He’s also hands down my favorite character in Armageddon. Michael Clarke Duncan is a treasure and we lost him too early. He was literally known for fans wanting hugs from him instead of photos.
100% agree. When I first heard they were turning this into a movie I was so disappointed because I couldn’t imagine who could fill John Coffey’s shoes. I was wrong. He was absolutely incredible and what I pictured in my head when I first read the book.
Ermey was originally just a consultant on that movie. He impressed the director so much demonstrating how drill instructors act that he just cast him instead of having him train the actor.
