List of films set in Brooklyn, New York. This is a list of movies which take place in the borough of Brooklyn, not necessarily a collection of films actually made in the location. All of part of the following films take Brooklyn, NYC, as a major or significant setting.
Dozens of popular films have taken the vibrant Brooklyn neighborhood as a setting, many of them dealing with the borough's rich history. Sophie's Choice, for example, takes place in 1940s Brooklyn, where an Auschwitz survivor has resettled following WWII. Sergio Leone's epic Once Upon a Time in America looks at organized crime in Brooklyn in the '20s and '30s. Other movies have used the neighborhood as a microcosm to look at larger political and social issues in America, including a number of films from Brooklyn-raised filmmaker Spike Lee. (These include Mo' Better Blues, She's Gotta Have It, Clockers, and Do the Right Thing.)
Many of these were movies filmed in Brooklyn, or even have Brooklyn in the title, but all are great movies and have this hipster borough as an integral part of the plot.1
