relationships 30 Movies Where Real Family Members Play Fictional Families
This list of movies that star real families is pretty impressive. Some of the best actors and actresses of all time have starred opposite siblings, parents, and in-laws on the silver screen. This list also includes some of the most iconic on-screen pairings of real-life couples, too. Sometimes, the pairings don't work so well, but when they work, they really work. This list includes some of the most notable on-screen appearances of real families in movies.
Sure, Hollywood has long been known as a place for some serious nepotism, but in many of these cases, the actors and actresses here, who are really related, did some outstanding work. Can anyone, for example, argue that Charlie Sheen and Martin Sheen weren't phenomenal on screen together in Wall Street? Or how about Jane Fonda and her real-life father, legendary actor Henry Fonda, starring together as father and daughter in the poignant On Golden Pond? And yes, for this list, Tatum and Ryan O'Neal's turn as a father/daughter con-artist team in Paper Moon definitely counts.
So yes, it is possible for families to co-star together in films that are really great. Will Smith certainly proves that point. Smith and his son, Jaden Smith, have teamed up twice together on the big screen as a father and son: In 2006's The Pursuit of Happyness and in 2013's After Earth. In 2007, Smith starred with his real-life daughter, Willow Smith, as father and daughter Robert and Marley Neville in the great sci-fi movie I Am Legend.
Despite the fact that Smith teamed up once again with his son, Jaden, for the 2013 action film After Earth, audiences (and critics) failed to respond: The film bombed at the summer box office.
