On September 30, 2018, Charles Aznavour - one of the most popular singers in France - passed away in his sleep in his home in Mouriés. He was 94 years old.  Aznavour wasn't just a singer, either.

He was a celebrated composer, film actor, and defender of the Armenian people. He sold nearly 200 million records, wrote more than 1,000 songs, and appeared in over 60 films.

Marty Balin is listed (or ranked) 2 on the list Musicians Who Died in 2018

On September 27, 2018, Jefferson Airplane singer and Jefferson Starship songwriter Marty Balin was found dead. The musician was 76 years old. No official cause of death was released. 

Balin co-wrote five songs on Jefferson Airplane's Surrealistic Pillow, including "It's No Secret," "Comin' Back To Me," and "Share a Little Joke." He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 with the rest of Jefferson Airplane. 

"Marty and I shared the deepest of love - he often called it Nirvana - and it was," Balin's wife Susan said. "But really, we were all touched by his love. His presence will be within my entire being forever."

Rachid Taha is listed (or ranked) 3 on the list Musicians Who Died in 2018

Algerian-born Rachid Taha, dubbed one of the most influential singers to come out of France, passed away in the middle of the night after suffering a heart attack on September 11, 2018. The singer was 59 years old. 

As NPR notes, Taha never shied away from his North African identity, as his music proves.  His songs were politically charged, often discussing the trials and tribulations of the immigrant working class of France. His named his first band Carte de Séjour, the French term for "residency permit."

Mac Miller is listed (or ranked) 4 on the list Musicians Who Died in 2018

According to TMZ, rapper Mac Miller died of an alleged overdose on September 7, 2018. He was 26 years old. 

Reportedly, a friend called 911 from Miller's house. Authorities found Miller dead in his San Fernando Valley home around noon, and he was pronounced dead on the scene.
