Marshall Mathers, AKA Eminem, AKA Slim Shady, has long represented Detroit and made 8 Mile famous with his Oscar-winning movie, but this biographical video reveals that he was actually born in St. Joseph, Missouri.
He moved to Michigan and got in on Detroit’s rap-battle scene, where he was discovered by legendary music producer/N.W.A rapper, Dr. Dre.
Eminem was the first artist to win consecutive “Best Rap Album” Grammies for three consecutive LPs. He also won an Oscar for the film 8 Mile’s soundtrack song, “Lose Yourself."
