What Mythical Creature Would You Be, Based On Your Zodiac Sign?

Astrology is a wild art that lets people interpret and dissect every part of their personalities. The stars are here to tell us a little more about ourselves, from what Avenger your sign shares the most traits with to what historical figure we are most like. If you consider yourself more of a fantastical stargazer, you may be wondering which mythical creature you would be based on your sign.

The ideal mythical creature for each zodiac sign is based on the personality traits attributed to each constellation, including the darker aspects of each sign. Things were brutal in ancient times, and these mythical creatures by zodiac sign are reflective of that. Here are the zodiac signs with matching mythical zodiac creatures for those who have always wondered if they're a siren or a Valkyrie.

Those born under the constellation Aries (March 21 - April 19) are brave, confident, and loyal. They are the type who aren't afraid to jump into the heat of things to support those they respect. This is why the Valkyrie is the perfect mythological figure to reflect them.

Whether it's bringing weapons to the front line or carrying the souls of the dead to Einherjar in preparation of Ragnarok, Valkyries will always be there for honored warriors.

  • Taurus: Gargoyle

Taurus (April 20 - May 20) is a zodiac sign that breeds devoted, patient, and stable people. Like the stone statues guarding old cathedrals and churches, Taureans will wait quietly until they are needed. Should someone cause trouble for something they are protecting, they'll awaken into a terrifying beast that won't stop fighting until the job is done.

Gargoyles were often revered by those they watched over, treated with respect and love. Friends of Taureans feel the same way, because they know that a Taurus can be trusted to watch over them rain or shine.

  • Gemini: Cerberus

Gemini (May 21 - June 20) is the zodiac sign of the twins, and those born under it tend to be gentle, adaptable, and full of self-love. Much like the three-headed dog of myth, a Gemini is never alone, as they have the capacity to be their own best friend.

Cerberus also has a serpent's tail and the claws of a lion, which plays into a Gemini's ability to shape-shift when necessary.

  • Cancer: Werewolf

Cancers (June 21 - July 22) can be tenacious, loyal, and guarded. Much like the cursed lycanthrope, they can be slow to let people near for fear of hurting them. When they do however, their animal instincts kick in and they become fiercely bonded. Both Cancers and werewolves are ruled by the cyclical nature of the Moon and are prone to periods as a lone wolf.

When they find people they trust however, they're likely to develop a strong pack mentality.

  • Leo: Griffin

The constellation Leo (July 23 - August 22) is related to acts of bravery and leadership. Leos are often called lion-hearted, and there's a reason for that! This is a trait they share with the mighty griffin of myth. Griffins are an amalgam of the king of beasts, the lion, and the king of birds, the eagle.

This is the same regality that suffuses Leo's very being, possibly playing in to their strong leadership and decision-making skills. Both Leos and griffins are not to be messed with however, as the bestial nature of Fire signs makes them a vicious foe.

  • Virgo: Sphinx

Analytical, practical, and hard working - Virgos (August 23 - September 22) are the perfect people to prevent the unwise from entering holy temples. Their calculating and cerebral nature gives them a natural edge when it comes to riddles. Their practical side also means they won't hesitate to stop a fool in their tracks.

Sphinxes were considered malevolent creatures by the Greeks, but the Egyptians saw them as kind guardians. This is reflected in the two sides of a Virgo, who can be a great friend to people they respect and a terrifying enemy to those who cross them.
