16 Superhero Movie Characters With Big Narc Energy

List Rules
Vote up the characters who would totally narc you out.

Is there anything worse than a narc? Not a technical, working-for-the-police narc who's wearing a wire, but someone who just feels like they're going to tattle on you for eating a grape in a grocery store without paying. Superhero movies are dripping with narc energy, and while it can be felt in a few villains, it's mostly the heroes who give off the goody-two-shoes vibe.

Just because some of the most beloved characters in superhero movies are practically vibrating with narc energy doesn't make them bad. Heroes like Captain America and Superman kind of have to be narcs; being better than everyone else is their whole deal. That being said, there are plenty of other characters who can't pull off being a narc with as much gravitas as some of the most important superheroes in cinema. Remember to vote up the superhero characters you suspect of being total narcs.

  • Justin Hammer
Photo: Iron Man 2 / Paramount Pictures

Who Is This Narc: Justin Hammer, the wannabe Tony Stark with a chip on his shoulder. Not content to be one of many military contractor billionaires in the world, Hammer helps international terrorist Ivan Vanko recreate Stark's arc reactor technology.

Why He's A Total Narc: Hammer may have been born into a wealthy industrialist family, but he's severely lacking a backbone. He's more than comfortable selling out anyone he believes is in his way to becoming the No. 1 snarky military contractor in the USA.

Most Narc-Like Moment: After Tony Stark reveals that Hammer equipped Ivan Vanko with a collection of Hammer Drones, the conniving weapons merchant flip-flops and tries to seize control of the drones from Vanko. Natasha Romanoff sees this for the too-little, too-late action that it is and cracks his skull against a desk.

  • Jasper Sitwell
Photo: Captain America: The Winter Soldier / Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures

Who Is This Narc: This long time S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who actually works as a Hydra double agent has appeared in most of the major moments of the MCU, including the discovery of Thor's hammer and Loki's attempt to take down the Triskellion by pitting the Avengers against one another. If there's an important moment in Phase 1, he's probably in the background somewhere.

Why He's A Total Narc: A classic narc, Sitwell performs his underhanded duty for Hydra while being an exemplary agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. He doesn't just perform the tasks of an agent; he's really good at being a bureaucrat who gums up the works without giving away that he's working for the bad guys.

Most Narc-Like Moment: Sitwell's entire career plays like a highlight reel of narc activity, but it's his final moments on this Earth in The Winter Soldier, when he confesses Hydra's plan to execute millions of people at once after he's put under duress, that reeks of the most pungent narc energy.

    Betty Brant
Photo: Spider-Man: Homecoming / Columbia Pictures

Who Is This Narc: A student at Midtown School of Science and Technology who studies alongside Peter Parker while earning credit as the co-host of Midtown News. Betty doesn't so much have an obsession with the truth as she does with uncovering a juicy story.

Why She's A Total Narc: Betty gives off the impression that she wants to get into journalism, but it's clear she'll step on whoever she has to in order to get ahead. Throughout Homecoming, she's obsessed with the identity of Spider-Man, initially feigning a mild interest before suggesting she's going to get to the bottom of who is under the mask.

Most Narc-Like Moment: In the aftermath of Homecoming, Betty hosts a segment on Midtown News in which she investigates the identity of Spider-Man - seemingly without care that a revelation of such magnitude could destroy the wall-crawler's life and the lives of those around him.

    Penguin
Photo: Batman Returns / Warner Bros.

Who Is This Narc: Oswald Cobblepot, abandoned by his family because of his physical abnormalities, was raised by a family of penguins before taking up with a group of carnival folk. Upon his return to Gotham, he took on the mantle of the Penguin and devoted his life to bringing the city down to his level.

Why He's A Total Narc: Penguin's membership in the brotherhood of the narcs isn't as surprising as some of the heroes on this list, but of all the freaked-out weirdo villains in Gotham, he's the one who exudes major hall monitor vibes. The motivations of the villains in Batman Returns are myriad, but the Penguin is quick to jump on the bandwagon of working with the local government. While Selina Kyle would rather rob from the rich and give to herself, Penguin does everything he can to ingratiate himself to Gothman's elite.

Most Narc-Like Moment: In a twist on the concept of a narc-like moment, Penguin's biggest foray into being a narc is when he's exposed talking trash about the people of Gotham. He may not be an informant, but the revealing audio clip played over the loudspeakers at his mayoral speech shows everyone he's been playing both sides of the fence, which is the most narcadelic thing someone can do.
