Elliott couldn't defend his championship in 2021, but he continued to round into form as one of NASCAR's unquestioned elite racers at the ripe age of 26. Hendrick Motorsports has a two-headed beast at the top of its stable and Elliott should easily be "the guy" again this year.

William Clyde "Chase" Elliott II (born November 28, 1995) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 9 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Hendrick Motorsports. He won the 2014 NASCAR Nationwide Series championship, becoming the first rookie to win a national series championship in NASCAR and the youngest champion in that series. Elliott began racing in the Cup Series on a full-time basis in 2016, during which he was named the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Rookie of the Year. In 2020, he won the Cup Series championship, the first for Hendrick Motorsports since 2016. He has 13 career wins in the Cup Series, including seven on ...more

    Kyle Larson

In 2021, Larson raced a season for the ages, showing off his long-rumored unbelievable talent for once after all those years. At the present moment, it seems as if Larson could be gearing up to become one of NASCAR's all-time greats over the next decade-plus. Back-to-back championships feels entirely in the realm of possibility for Larson in 2022.

Kyle Miyata Larson (born July 31, 1992) is an American professional auto racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Hendrick Motorsports. Alex Bowman

If a few factors worked out differently, Bowman's Martinsville win would have vaulted him into the Championship 4, and Phoenix would have changed for the better. Yet, it was not meant to be. 2021 still saw Bowman net a career-high four wins and he'll have to drive his tail off to match or top that in 2022.

Alex Michael Bowman (born April 25, 1993), aka Bowman the Showman, is an American professional stock car racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 48 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Hendrick Motorsports. He owns a Dirt Midget team named Alex Bowman Racing. He is known for a record five consecutive front-row starts in the Daytona 500, from 2018 to 2022, winning the pole in 2018 and 2021.

Busch hated his car in 2021, but at no point, until he was officially eliminated, was Busch not a title contender. Given Joe Gibbs Racing improved the car in the offseason, the two time champion should be back among the elite of the elite racers in 2022.

Kyle Thomas Busch (born May 2, 1985) is an American professional stock car racing driver and team owner. As of 2022, he competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 18 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing and part-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, driving the No. 51 Toyota Tundra for Kyle Busch Motorsports. KBM runs multiple trucks in the Truck Series. Busch is the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series champion and the 2015 and 2019 Cup Series champion. Busch is also a one time WWE 24/7 Champion. He is the younger brother of 2004 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series champion Kurt Busch.

Busch had a formidable 2021 Cup Series and kept his win streak alive ( eight straight). While he's moving to a second 23XI car for 2022, drivers should be worried that another Busch now has access to JGR equipment and data.

Kurt Thomas Busch (born August 4, 1978) is an American professional auto racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 45 Toyota Camry TRD for 23XI Racing. He is the 2004 NASCAR Cup Series champion, 2017 Daytona 500 winner and the longest-tenured active driver in the Cup Series in terms of career starts. He is the older brother of two-time Cup Series champion Kyle Busch.

Blaney won three times and finished 7th in the 2021 standings. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him improve upon that in his first year with new crew chief Jonathan Hassler, who replaced the retiring Todd Gordon. Blaney got off to sharp start in 2022 with a fourth-place finish at Daytona.

Ryan Michael Blaney (born December 31, 1993) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 12 Ford Mustang for Team Penske. He is the son of former NASCAR driver Dave Blaney and the grandson of modified dirt track legend Lou Blaney. He is known for giving a young fan in the stands the checkered flag after a race win.
