Who Will Win The 2023 NBA Sixth Man of the Year ?

Malcolm Brogdon has consistently been one of the most consistent players in the NBA for his entire career. The 6"5' combo guard can do it all; score the ball, facilitate, and play stellar defense. While he was the focus of the team while he was in Indiana, now that he is joining a team that just made it to the NBA Finals in the Boston Celtics, Brogdon's role will absolutely change, but the plug-and-play player is more than up for the task. While Brogdon may not put up the flashy numbers he is used to, he will undoubtedly impact winning on the team and bring even more leadership to a team desperately in need of some at the moment.

Coming into his fourth season in the NBA, Jordan Poole is the undisputed favorite to win Sixth Man of the Year. Each year of his career Poole has increased every major statistical category, and he could/should have been a shoe-in for the award last year, except for the fact that he started more games than he came off the bench for. With a finally fully healthy Golden State Warriors team here, Poole will cement his position as the first player off the bench, provide the poignant scoring punch for the team, as well as bring energy to the second unit. Poole averaged 18.5 points and 4 assists last season, and with even more of a focus on offense this season, those numbers should only get even better.

Jordan Clarkson is in one of the most peculiar positions in the entire NBA entering his 8th season in the NBA. With the Utah Jazz entering full rebuild mode and Clarkson being one of the most valuable assets on the team, the 2020-21 Sixth Man of the Year can very well find himself on nearly any team come the start of the season. Luckily for him, nearly every team needs an electric scoring guard who can come in and get a quick 15 points, so his talents will undoubtedly be needed. Depending on where Clarkson ends up landing, he may very well vault himself to the top of the Sixth Man of the Year standings.

Now that the Milwaukee Bucks are relatively healthy once again, Bobby Portis can see himself going back to the role that he thrived in during the team's championship run. Portis is just 26 years of age, and is continuing to grow, but has proven in his very brief career that he is best in short busts where he can go all out and then take a small break. His scoring, rebounding, and defense have all seen drastic improvements, throughout his time in Milwaukee, and with the sting of defeat in last year's post-season, we should see the Bucks, and Portis in particular, come back into this season with a vengeance. 

Tyler Herro took home the Sixth Man of the Year award in 2022. Herro put up 20 points per game and shot 39.9% from three point range, proving his elite shooting ability. The wing is a key cog in a deep Miami Heat team, which has skill up and down the roster. Can 2023 Tyler Herro win the 6th Man again and repeat like Lou Williams did in 2018 - 2019? He was certainly aided by constant injuries to the Heat backcourt last year, but as Herro's proved time and again, he's not a guy you want to count out. 

The career-long journeyman, Christian Wood seems to have finally found a home with the Dallas Mavericks. While the starting center/power forward spot started with a bit of controversy, it is now known that Wood will indeed be the team's sixth man, and he should provide one heck of a scoring punch off the bench. When Wood averaged 30 minutes or more, he put up astounding numbers, including 19.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. With the Mavs lack of depth in the back line, Wood should be expecting to get a lot of minutes, and his production playing next to one of the best players in the league in Luka Doncic should only make Wood even more of a threat.
