Visited Family And Regretted It
From Redditor u/ereldar:
So, my dad has a job where he rarely gets time off, but he had New Year's Eve and the day before off, so I decided to go visit him instead of spending NYE with my fiancé. So I get into town and my dad comes down with a fever and decides to sleep the majority of the past few days. (I don't blame him, I think I made the right choice to come and see him, but it still sucks) So I end up not being able to see my dad that much, and my fiancé ended up spending new years with her ex and his friends, while I ended up spending it in a random bar in a Chicago suburb.

Had To Host A Party They Didn't Even Want To Have
From Redditor u/JustxJules:
I hate new years eve. My then-boyfriend wanted to throw a big party despite me having no interest in that. He invited a lot of people, got drunk within an hour, and fell dead asleep soon after, leaving me taking care of everything. Fun.

Didn't Plan Transportation Beforehand
From Redditor u/BrogyBear13:
I was in Milwaukee for a Skrillex concert one NYE during college. It was pre-uber. After the concert, my brother, my ex-girlfriend and I sat in a Chase bank entrance (where the ATM is) for 2 hours while waiting on a cab back to the hotel. Turns out Milwaukee cabs do not accept "hailed" rides and every cab company had over a 2 hour wait for a cab. A 10x surge would've been better alternative.

Had Way Too Much To Drink And Embarrassed Themself
From Redditor u/Candy_with_a_K:
Senior year undergrad. Get in the cab from the pregame to downtown with three friends of a friend who I don't actually know. Once we get there, I realize that they're not my friends and drunk me decides its a good idea to walk to my crush's apartment. Didn't text her, snap her, DM her, nothing. Just walked over. As soon as I walked in the door of course she is the first person I see and I immediately snap out of my drunken stupor and have a gigantic moment of regret that I shouldn't be there and drunk me is unable to play it cool and just becomes super awkward. In order to relieve some of the awkwardness my crush kindly walks a small group of us dt so I can meet up with my actual friends. At midnight the only thing I was kissing was the porcelain throne. Somehow I am able to rally enough to the point of (where I'm told) getting in a taxi with three complete strangers to their apartment because my brilliant drunk mind thinks that even though its not my apartment complex, its what I should do because its closer to my apartment than where I currently was. I wake up in the morning to a cold apartment with the heat off because its winter break in a college town, a freshman dry heaving in the bathroom, a completely clothed girl I had no chance of closing with the night before on the blowup mattress next to me, and a dead iPhone battery. Eventually get my phone back on and am able to call a friend to come pick me up. Fast forward about two months to me giving an announcement to our local SAE's chapter meeting and as soon as I walk in I hear a voice from the back row pop up with, "Hey that's the guy that slept at my place NYE."

Took Their New Girlfriend To A Family Party That Ended Badly
From Redditor u/Coach_mjg:
Took an ex-girlfriend to a family party before going out, my little cousin flew his new toy helicopter into her hair and it got tangled and stuck to her head. We did not go out after and she never came to a family function again.
