She Finally Mourned Her Family In A Bonus Chapter Of The Manga

She Finally Mourned Her Family In A Bonus Chapter Of The Manga

Nezuko lost so much during her years as a demon. The most obvious example was her limited ability to speak. However, another equally important example was being unable to mourn the loss of her family. This section contains spoilers from the manga, so anime viewers beware.

Demon Slayer began with Tanjiro discovering the awful massacre of his family. Before he could fully express his grief, Tanjiro comes to the horrible realization that his younger sister is alive but transformed into a demon. Given the sudden turn of events, Nezuko was never given the chance to mourn with her brother or given time to realize what just happened. Thankfully, in a bonus chapter of Volume 23 – the final volume in the Demon Slayer manga series – Nezuko is finally given the chance to pay respect to her departed family, after regaining her humanity. It's a touching scene that gives the siblings full closure over the tragedy that began their unforgettable adventure together.

She's Very Close With Mitsuri Kanroji

Mitsuri Kanroji is the older sister Nezuko never had, or knew she wanted. Although nothing will break the strong brother-sister bond between Nezuko and Tanjiro, Mitsuri serves as a positive female role model that Nezuko can look up to in the series.

Nezuko and Mitsuri first met at the hidden Swordsmith Village and became friends ever since. The manga is filled with cute interactions between the two girls – one of which is a scene of Mitsuri giving Nezuko a tickle. Unlike Tanjiro, Mitsuri can also style Nezuko's hair.

Her Eyes Changed Colors After Becoming A Demon

Her Eyes Changed Colors After Becoming A Demon

It's a subtle change – one that most viewers may not even notice with multiple viewings. However, Nezuko's eye color changed after she became a demon. When she was human, Nezuko's eyes were red. After she became a demon, Nezuko's eyes turned pink.

Given the dramatic association with the color red, one would think Nezuko's eyes would turn red after becoming a demon. It's an interesting subversion of expectations. The light, warm color of pink makes Nezuko appear sympathetic as a demon and matches the color of her pink kimono.

The Voice Actors Of Nezuko And Tanjiro Have A Sibling-Like Relationship

The Voice Actors Of Nezuko And Tanjiro Have A Sibling-Like Relationship

In the original Japanese version of Demon Slayer, Nezuko Kamado is voiced by Akari Kito, who goes by the nickname of "Akarin". Akarin is also the voice of Kanata Konoe in Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club. In addition to sharing the same height as Nezuko (5'0"), Akarin also shares a sibling-like relationship with Natsuki Hanae, the Japanese voice actor of Tanjiro Kamado.

According to Akarin, Hanae acts like a supportive big brother to her. Whenever she's having difficulties in the recording booth, Hanae will stay and wait for Akarin to finish, even if he's done recording for the day. Similarly, Hanae sees Akarin as a younger sister. Hanae is married with two kids, a pair of fraternal twin girls.

    She Loves Baguettes

Perhaps one of Nezuko's most defining features is the bamboo muzzle she always wears to prevent her from tasting blood. In an alternate universe, Nezuko bites down on something else: baguettes!

In Kimetsu Academy, a comedic spin-off of Demon Slayer, Nezuko always has French bread in her mouth. Nezuko chewing on baguettes is a clear spoof of her bamboo muzzle, but it's also a funny parody of the anime girl running late for school with toast in her mouth. In this timeline, the Kamado family runs a bakery. Whenever Nezuko would have trouble waking up, Tanjiro would carry her all the way to school on his shoulders. No matter the timeline, Nezuko and Tanjiro continue to have a sweet sibling relationship.

    She Loves Sewing

    She Loves Sewing

Everyone in Demon Slayer has their own hobby (that isn't killing demons, of course). According to the series' databook, Tanjiro loves to clean. Zenitsu Agatsuma loves playing a Japanese board game called Sugoroku. Genya Shinazugawa tends to his bonsai tree.

For Nezuko Kamado, sewing is her favorite hobby. Perhaps this is why there's an official Demon Slayer sewing machine for kids with Nezuko's image all over it. Additionally, Nezuko has a mean forehead flick. She also thinks Zenitsu is a strange dandelion.
