    In A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), the effect of blood rushing to the ceiling during Glen's (Johnny Depp) demise was achieved using an upside down set. It was actually spilling onto the floor. Director Wes Craven and DP Jacques Haitkin captured the scene strapped to the wall in race car seats.

    The Real Origin Story

    Wes Craven got the idea for A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) after reading articles from the Los Angeles Times. The articles mentioned three refugees from Pol Pot's regime who suffered from extreme nightmares, the men refused to sleep but all died within a year of arriving in the U.S. with no clear cause of death.
