Four of the oldest people ever are from the United States, three are from Japan, and one is from France. The oldest person who ever lived was over 120 years old when she died.

She even met Vincent Van Gogh when she was 12 or 13 years old. In 1995, a documentary was made about her life entitled Beyond 120 Years with Jeanne Calment. She smoked from the time she was 21 until she reached age 117.
Jiroemon Kimura of Japan is the man who lived the longest. He lived from April 19, 1897 until June 12, 2013 for a total of 116 years and 54 days. Four of his five siblings lived to be older than 90 years old.
