Father from Fullmetal Alchemist. Sousuke Aizen from Bleach. Madara Uchiha from Naruto. These characters might seem different, but they have one very important thing in common - they're all totally OP anime villains.
Invincible anime villains must walk a fine line between creating meaningful challenges for the heroes to overcome and creating challenges that are actually impossible and require the heroes to go beyond the rules established by canon. When their defeats work, it's awesome - but when it doesn't, it can be a disaster. Still, it's always exciting to try and find out how seemingly unbeatable anime villains will finally bite the dust. Which ones are your favorites?

Acnologia Can Consume All Types Of Magic In 'Fairy Tail'Photo: Satelight
Acnologia, one of the original Dragon Slayers, has devoured and bathed in the blood of so many dragons that he can consume any type of Magic element. Naturally, this makes him the strongest person in the Fairy Tail universe. Even Zeref acknowledged his strength and admitted that Acnologia could take over the entire world with his powers. He's even able to control the properties of time and space.

Father might have been defeated at the end of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, but it took hundreds of people to make it happen. Father isn't bound by the normal rules of alchemy - he can perform alchemy technique without paying any cost. Besides that, if he wants to understand something fully, all he has to do is touch it. When he absorbs the power of God into his body, he becomes so powerful that he can do literally anything he wants, even creating a miniature sun in the palm of his hand.
But Father's human body has trouble keeping up with all of that power. In order to boost his strength as he's being repeatedly attacked by the entire military and a whole bunch of other people who want him gone, he absorbs the homunculus Greed. Greed turns his body into a brittle substance, one that's easy to destroy with a single punch - which is how Edward Elric ultimately defeats him once and for all.

All For One is All Might's rival, and he's perhaps one of the most dangerous villains in the My Hero Academia universe. Why? Unlike other characters in the world of MHA, All For One has a practically unlimited number of quirks. He's able to steal quirks from anyone he chooses, and create deadly and unpredictable combinations that keep his opponents on their toes. He's so strong that defeating him feels like a pipe dream, and one of the times that All Might tried, he was so severely injured that he lost multiple organs and the ability to retain his muscle form.
Ultimately, he's defeated in a very public spectacle in which All Might was finally able to overwhelm him enough that he could be arrested and taken to the Tartarus Prison, where he is expected to remain for the rest of his life.

Gilgamesh Is A Half-God In The 'Fate' UniversePhoto: ufotable
Gilgamesh is an archer class servant whose goal is to get his hands on the Holy Grail. He's charismatic enough to gain assistance from entire armies but strong enough not to really need their help. His golden armor is practically impenetrable, but his enemies rarely get close enough to him to test it in the first place. He's a half-god who spends a good chunk of his life being immortal before having his immortality stolen, and he owns a sword called Ea that's capable of wiping out the whole planet and also contains all the secrets of the universe inside of it. Oh, and he has access to the Gate of Babylon, which allows him to store a vast horde of weapons that he can deploy at any time.
Gilgamesh doesn't achieve his goals in every continuity of the Fate series, but he's never truly defeated, either. Fans have speculated about which other characters might be capable of doing so, but that hasn't happened yet. His one true weakness is his arrogance, which can lead to him being easily decieved.
