Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim series reintroduced a new audience to kaiju monster fights that were extremely reminiscent of the ones featured in classic monster flicks like Godzilla. Fans of the Pacific Rim movies are now turning to Reddit to expose several Pacific Rim details that went over the heads of many movie buffs upon initial release.
Some of these details may seem more surprising than others. However, all of these details have the capacity to surprise even the biggest fan of kaiju monster flicks.
In Pacific Rim (2013), when Leatherback uses his EMP on Striker Eureka, people wondered why he didn't do the same to Gipsy Danger. Gipsy rips off the appendage used to EMP early on in the fight with Leatherback, rendering him unable to do it again.
In Pacific Rim: Uprising, the ejecting pilot's escape pod lands her in front of Anaheim Electronics, a nod to the company that invents/produces Gundams in the Gundam universe.
In Pacific Rim (2013) - Gipsy Danger is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon. Not sure if this had been posted before. Just noticed it during the Sword deployment scene against the kaiju Otachi.
[Pacific Rim] - During the initial Gipsy Danger scene, Raleigh's heart rate is 138 and Yancy's is 105, showing Raleigh's excitement and Yancy's calmness. After their neural handshake, their heart rates sync at 108 BPM.
In Pacific Rim: Uprising, several kaiju from other movies make a small cameo. These include Gigan, Clover, Gamera, Battra, and the M.U.T.O., among others.
