Freakin' Rock StarsThe most bananas stories and insane 100% true tales about the lives and behind-the-music antics of your favorite rock stars and legendary bands.
“Few days shy of 50 and when I ask my super goth 13-year-old what they're listening to they tell me it's a band I probably don't know called The Cure.” - @JeffSharlet
Just enough to make any ‘90s goth kid grow cold, this tweet went viral as moms and dads began discussing all the ways their kids’ musical tastes made them feel old. From “discovering” the Cure and Nirvana to finding out that mom and dad know all the lyrics to a new favorite song, here is what happened when a former goth decided to spawn.
It All Started With A Band That 'You Probably Never Heard Of Before'
I complimented a kid wearing a Cure shirt the other day and I saw in her eyes that she was questioning all of her life's choices. Like, was probably heading home to burn it now that some old mooooom liked it.
One of my undergraduate students walked in wearing a tshirt. I looked up quickly and said “What does your shirt say?” She said “Oh it’s a really old band. I don’t want to say the name because it’s awkward.” Sex Pistols. The old awkward band was Sex Pistols
My teen daughter and her girlfriend tried to explain what the rocky horror picture show was to my husband and I. *blink*blink*

Others Shared Stories About Their Kids Discovering 'New' Music
When Paul McCarney played in Melbourne a few years ago a guy calls into a radio talkback show to tell listeners his son went to the concert, called his dad afterwards and said, “He was so cool. He even played the Guns N’ Roses song Live And Let Die.”
I'm old. My son however has eclectic tastes. I asked him what he was looking for on Amazon. He repllied a band that I probably never heard of called "Cream". Should I tell him?

Literally the last 3 song "discoveries" by my young kids, that they HAD to share with me are: 1. Careless Whisper by WHAM 2. Material Girl by Madonna And 3. Dancing Queen by ABBA
With bonus 4. Don't fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult
Do have to say, I was very confused when one day a classmate wore a shirt with a swimming baby with his penis out, I’m like “uhh is that allowed” and got yelled at by the teacher for not knowing nirvana 😂
