Psychics haven't cornered the market on predictions. "Normal" people have premonitions, too, and sometimes the crystal balls in their minds are eerily correct.

A sense of foreboding about the future can come to someone as a feeling, a troubling thought, a gut instinct, a dream, or just an overall uneasiness. And according to people who shared their stories on Reddit, that sense, vision, or premonition sometimes turns to reality.

Redditors shared their tales of somehow anticipating terrible incidents in their own lives or the lives of others. They envisioned or anticipated pain, suffering, transportation and school incidents, job loss, damaging weather, and in the most uncanny cases, people's final days...

  • The Passings Of Close Friends

    From Redditor /u/astrobeka:

I have had dreams and feelings that a close friend would [perish] a few times... Each time I was right... Two of them I was able to predict with unique details two weeks beforehand. I only ever told one friend when I had these dreams or feelings.

I also had a very strong feeling of something being "not right" while spending time with a man who would go on to take me and lock me in his house a few hours later, and keep me there for a few days, 400 kilometers from home in the time before mobile phones.

  • A Small, Hidden Lump In Their Breast

    From Redditor /u/delphinese:

I had a dream there were two lumps in my breasts, one in each, and the dream was very specific on location. Sure enough, I checked as soon as I woke up, and there were lumps exactly where they were in the dream.

The second was so small and hidden that it was missed in the ultrasound the doctors did the next week, and I had to lead them to it. Luckily, there was blood flow into them. They were both benign and successfully removed.

  • The Events Of 9/11

    From Redditor /u/MrHollywood:

My moms swears by this. She woke up and had this really bad feeling something was going to happen, so she took a walk around the neighborhood to relax. While she was out, she looked into a window and saw something happening on the news.

So she headed back home to turn on the TV to see the breaking news of 9/11 happening.

  • A Person Jumping Off A Building

    From Redditor /u/Chickenbrik:

I usually can only feel premonitions when bad things are gonna happen, like how parents know if their kid is in danger without being near them.

I had a dream where I was walking with my then-girlfriend through the streets of New York City. The world was completely white except this one building and the crowd of people below it. The crowd was looking upstairs at the building as my girlfriend and I joined the crowd. We asked what was going on. A stranger responded that someone was gonna jump.

My girlfriend and I looked up to see basically a nondescript person who was blacked out, so we could see no features at all. I quickly guarded my girlfriend's eyes, closed mine, and told her not to look.

When I did this, a voice basically in my head said to me, "Open your eyes and look; there is a reason you must watch this!" So I listened, and watched as a person [shattered on] the ground with the top portion of their torso propped up.

I woke up and then woke my sleeping girlfriend next to me. I told her my dream and went back to sleep.

The next day when I went to work, the doorman of the building above our shop told me a girl jumped off the roof last night... He wouldn’t go into too much detail, and I didn’t press him. When I got home, I looked it up.

It turns out it was a girl I went to high school with in the same grade... I wasn’t friends with her but had many friends who were, and I was probably the first person they heard it from.

I also had a bad feeling for my dad. Later that month, he fell off the roof (at 67 years old) and came very close to [perishing]. I now tell people when I have bad feelings.
