The Vegas strip has nothing on Mother Nature and her cast of glow-in-the-dark creatures! Gifted with bioluminescence, the ability to produce light, crazy neon animals use such lighting for numerous reasons. Aside from being a form of communication, bioluminescence also can be used for attracting other organisms, either as prey or potential mates. It comes naturally to a wide variety of marine animals, land and cave-based insects, and even some bacteria!
Of course, the best known and perhaps most famous example of glow-in-the-dark creatures is the firefly, but many other bright, colorful animals hold their own candles to the firefly's recognizable spark. The bioluminescent animals below look bright, loud, and proud, and would show off their sparkle to any party or rave better than any glowstick or neon whistle.
