The third iteration of the PlayStation console is really when Sony started to separate itself from an identity standpoint. This is when old series become major blockbusters, and new series start to hit the market. At this part in the history of the console, characters start to change from being simply popular to reaching iconic status. This list seeks to compile many of those characters. 

Whether looking through the history of the Uncharted series and bringing about Nathan Drake as the ultimate mascot of Sony's gaming division, or seeing Solid Snake yet again saving the world in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriot, there are plenty of characters coming back to bring about a great era of entertainment.
