Power List Of 100 Popular Celebrities: Press Survey Rankings
Instead of ranking the most powerful celebrities in the world by wealth or earnings during the year, this unique Forbes list ranks the most powerful celebrities in the world in terms of their press exposure. Interestingly, neither the top-earning celebrity of 2011 nor the most-powerful celebrity from 2011 ranked at the top of this list.
For the year ending in May 2011, professional tennis player Roger Federer aced the course in press mentions and comes in ranked at the top of the most powerful celebrity in terms of publicity. While pop star and most powerful person of the year Lady Gaga came in second, athletes certainly ruled this list.
Fellow tennis star Rafael Nadal, soccer stud Cristiano Ronaldo, golfer Tiger Woods and NBA star LeBron James made up the remainder of the top six. It wasn't until the seventh spot on the list where another non-sports star appeared. That celebrity, Oprah Winfrey, ranked the highest for television and radio presence, but was outdone for press mentions.
Regardless of their media exposure was good or bad, these celebrities were in the headlines the most during the year. That old saying about any press being good press is certainly true here.
