A Day In The Life Of Harry And Meghan, The Duke And Duchess Of Sussex

Updated February 17, 2021 41.1k views13 items

As the great sage Lorde once said, "We'll never be royals/It don't run in our blood." Still, that doesn't mean we can't dream, and Prince Harry and Meghan (the former Meghan Markle) are the perfect fantasy fodder. Though the details of their private life are pretty much kept under strict lock and key, we can deduce through Meghan's previous comments and the rules of the royal family what a typical day for the golden couple is like - if any day could be typical when you're talking about one of the most famous pairs on the planet.

Coming as a shock to their followers, Prince Harry and Megan announced they would "step back as 'senior' members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent" at the beginning of 2020. They intend to split their time between the United Kingdom and North America in order to raise their son "with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born" while also providing them room to focus on launching their "new charitable entity."

Though stepping back from royal tradition will be an adjustment for them, it's refreshing to know that what the Duke and Duchess of Sussex do throughout the course of a normal day is perhaps not so different from what "normal" folk do. Sure, neither one is punching a time clock or working four jobs to put food on the table. But they lead full and busy lives, which perhaps means they're not so different from us after all.

Meghan Says She Tries To Perform One Act Of Kindness Per Day

In the past, Meghan has said she tries to perform one random act of kindness per day. That's a line of thinking that could have been directly inspired by her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana. "Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you," Diana famously said.

It's also worth noting that royals are not supposed to touch or be touched by non-royals. But Meghan makes it a point to shake hands, hug little kids, and take time out, even among huge crowds, to acknowledge others.

  • The Couple Reportedly Likes Cooking Dinner And Watching TV At Home

Sources told the Daily Mail that Meghan and Harry love staying in and having dinner at home. Harry likes beef Wellington and fish pie, and Meghan has a penchant for jerk chicken and spicy fish.

They like the BBC too. Favorite series have included Feud, Spiral, and McMafia. "They’re spending as much time as they can on their own together," the source said, "with lots of casual suppers and TV."

The Pair Occasionally Goes To The Theater

Harry and Meghan don't stay in every night. They occasionally go see live theater in the West End.

In March 2019, they stepped out to see the new Tina Turner musical. They've also seen shows at the Bristol Old Vic. In 2018, they saw Hamilton - and Harry sang a whole two words on stage.

    They Sometimes Visit Friends

About two times a week, the royal couple has dinner at various friends' houses. They are regular guests of Harry's mentor, Mark Dyer, and Dyer's wife, Amanda Kline. When they were still dating, Harry and Meghan used to have secret dates at Dyer and Kline's Fulham restaurant.

Meghan has some regularly scheduled girl time as well. She lunches with beauty blogger Tanya Burr and rides bikes with actor Millie Mackintosh.
