It's Called ForeshadowingHindsight is 20/20, and "Easter eggs" are inside jokes and references hidden for observant audiences, but there's a different name for the hints writers give at what's to come later in the story.
Since the early 1990s, Quentin Tarantino has made some of the most critically-acclaimed, stylized, and violent films of all time. A two-time Best Original Screenplay Academy Award winner for Pulp Fiction and Django Unchained, his talents as a storyteller are matched by few. One of his greatest skills is his use of foreshadowing, which plays a major role in nearly all of his films. Sometimes it's hidden and easy to miss, like in Pulp Fiction, where Jules can be heard laying the groundwork for his retirement in the background of the opening diner scene. Other times it's part of the set design. In Reservoir Dogs, a painting of "St. Sebastian of Vienna" represents the fate of Marvin the police officer. There are even moments when foreshadowing comes in the form of a sight gag, like when Django takes some target practice on a snowman's sensitive area in Django Unchained.
If you love his work and want to get clued into some of the little details that make it so great, check out this list of genius foreshadowing moments in Quentin Tarantino's films.
In Tarantino’s, Pulp Fiction (1994), Mia ODs on Vincent’s heroin stash after she mistakes it for cocaine because cocaine is given in a baggie and heroin is in a balloon. Lance warns Vincent of this earlier in the film “I’m outta balloons. Is a baggie alright?”
Throughout the scene, Mr Pink and Mr White are in an argument about why Mr Pink should tip the waitresses. This shows us how Mr White is compassionate, and has a heart for others, which gets him killed at the end, while Mr Pink only looks out for himself, which saves him later on. When Joe comes to collect the tips, he asks who didn’t tip, and Mr Orange tells Joe that Mr Pink didn’t tip. This represents how Mr Orange is the rat, who set them up. Also, Mr Blonde throughout the scene jokingly threatens to shoot someone, and this shows us that Mr Blonde just wants to kill people.
In Kill Bill Vol.2 (2004), Pai Mei indirectly fulfills his own revenge against Elle after she kills him, since he claims the Bride's right arm as his own after their first fight. The Bride uses the same arm to pluck out Elle's eye later in the film.
In Django Unchained (2012) when Django is learning to shoot he uses bottles as targets in a snowman. One target is located on the snowman’s groin. Later in the movie Django shoots a man's [member] off.
Reservoir Dogs (1992): the painting of the bound and tortured man behind Vic is "St. Sebastian of Vienna," which is very similar to the fate that befalls the cop he later ties up and tortures.
