Ricki and the Flash movie quotes tell the story of one mother who left her family to pursue rock and roll and years later has to come to terms with that decision. The comedy-drama was written by Diablo Cody and directed by Jonathan Demme. Ricki and the Flash opened in theaters in the United States on August 7, 2015.

In Ricki and the Flash, Ricki (Meryl Streep) left her husband Pete (Kevin Kline) and children, including Julie (Streep's real life daughter Mamie Gummer) and Josh (Sebastian Stan) many years ago to pursue her dream of music. So when Ricki, out on tour with her band (including Rick Springfield), receives a call from Pete saying that Julie's husband, Max (Gabriel Ebert) has left her, Ricki returns home for a rare visit.

Upon arriving, Ricki is faced to deal with the fact that her family moved on without her. Pete married Maureen (Audra McDonald), who filled the motherly role Ricki left, and son Josh got engaged but wasn't planning to invite Ricki to the wedding. Ricki struggles to deal with these issues, while still remaining strong to support Julie, two things that are not easy. In the end, she needs to find a way to move forward with the family and her life together, another seemingly impossible task.

Ricki and the Flash joins theaters already showing a bunch of other great films such as Fantastic Four, Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, Vacation, and Southpaw.

Greg: It really doesn't matter if the kids love you or not. It's not their job to love you. It's your job to love them.

Greg explains things to Ricki quite simply. Ricki cannot make her children love her, only love them as best she can.
