With new film franchises emerging, 2020 is shaping up to be a breakout year for several rising stars. Up and coming actors will appear in superhero movies and adaptations of beloved childhood books. Read on below for more information about the upcoming actors and actresses you need to watch. 

Which new actresses and best young actors appear on this rising stars of 2020 list? John David Washington is near the top. Washington was a breakout star in Spike Lee's 2018 film BlacKkKlansman, for which he received critical and commercial acclaim. He is further stepping out from his father, Denzel Washington's, shadow in 2020 by starring in Christopher Nolan's Tenet.

Kaitlyn Dever is also expected to build on her success in 2020. Though she had already appeared on Last Man Standing, Dever’s breakout role in 2019 was as Amy in Booksmart. In 2020, she stars in Hulu's Monsterland.

It could be a breakout year for Dixie Egerickx, who will be starring alongside Colin Firth and Julie Walters in the 2020 adaptation of The Secret Garden. Barry Keoghan is another of the up and coming actors to watch. He is going to enter the Marvel Universe starring as Druig in The Eternals.
