    Listen To Podcasts

    From Redditor u/Ace_of_Clubs:

Podcasts. As a big road tripper myself, I have fallen in love with Podcasts. Season one of Serial is amazing, Stuff You Should Know is a perfect 30-40 minute show that has literally hundreds of episodes, and my favorite - Giants of History.

Have A Paper Map Ready Just In Case

    From a former Redditor:

Bring a paper map for wherever you’re going. It’s old school, but when your phone dies/loses service/breaks, you’ll always have the physical map.

Clean Your Car. Start Early. Switch Drivers.

    From Redditor u/GBUS_TO_MTV:

Having driven across the US a couple of times:

Clean your car inside and out. You’ll enjoy yourself much more with a clean interior and clean windows.

Start early in the morning and drive during the day so you can enjoy the scenery.

Switch drivers or take a break every 100 Miles.

Don’t plan on more than 6 hours on the road each day.

Scenic, winding mountain roads get fatiguing after a while and you’ll be glad to be back on the interstate.

    Try A Detour!

    From Redditor u/Nonsenseinabag:

If you have the time to spare, get off the interstate and take the small highways. You'll see a lot of the country most people don't get to see and it is a lot more relaxing. That said, steer clear of major suburban areas as they tend to have the worst traffic.

Sleep Mask: Yes. Neck Pillow: No.

    From Redditor u/TwitchMoments_:

Buy yourself a sleep mask for when you're not driving. The sun will always irritate you and your concentration to sleep.

Do not buy a neck pillow. Yes in some cases they're okay but you aren't really flexible in where you can move and the way the seat is positioned isn't all that comfortable. I recommend you bring two pillows, put a pillow on each side, and lower your seat down. This will allow you to lay on your side comfortably on a soft surface.

    Bring a portable charger obviously

Buy a month's subscription to Youtube Red and Spotify so that you can watch and listen to offline content while you're in the middle of nowhere.
