Hermione Spends More Time With The Weasleys Than Her Own Family

    From Redditor u/OwlPostAgain:

It's pretty obvious that she starts spending way more time with the Weasleys starting in GoF.

I think Hermione loved her parents, but had difficulty connecting with them as time goes on for two reasons. The first is that she becomes more and more aware of the fact that the muggle world is not her future. University has no relevance to a girl with a fifth grade formal education. The Wizarding World is where she belongs, and going home becomes this unproductive intermission.

The other issue is that Hermione is putting herself in very dangerous situations and I don't believe for a moment that her parents knew the extent of what she was getting up to at school.

I'm guessing she was fairly honest at first, but the turning point was the end of CS. We don't know whether or not Hogwarts told her parents she had been petrified. If Hogwarts didn't tell her parents, I doubt Hermione would have told them. That would have kind of set her on a slippery slope. If Hogwarts did tell her parents, they would have been terrified and Hermione would have bent over backwards to make sure they knew how safe the wizarding world was.

So either way, she starts heavily editing after 2nd year. No deaths, no escaped convicts, no anti-muggleborn riots, no ministry break-ins, no werewolf professors, no contact with Death Eaters, no best friends fated to defeat Voldemort, no dragons, no cursed necklaces, no soul sucking prison guards, no illegal defense organizations, etc.

Even seemingly innocuous topics like her relationship with Krum lead to her having to spend too much time explaining a magical concept or trying to evade questions about something dangerous. She would tell her parents some things, but it's easier to heavily edit and keep her mouth shut than it is to weave elaborate stories.

Hermione would begin to feel like she couldn't be herself with her parents, and she constantly has to keep her guard up, edit what she was saying, and avoid looking too depressed by the events of the previous June.

Which is why she gravitates more and more toward the Burrow and Grimmauld Place. That's where she belongs and that's where she can be herself.

The Longest Ron And Hermione Spend Apart Is One Month

    From Redditor u/OwlPostAgain:

Hermione and Ron have barely spent a fortnight apart since the beginning of GoF. They live in the same dormitory, they eat meals together, they have most of their classes together, they hang out in the common room together, etc.

While obviously Hermione studies alone in the library and they both spend some time in their individual dormitories, they pretty much spend the vast majority of their leisure time together. Even when Harry is off doing his own thing, he usually comes back to find them together.

They've spent like 2 months of the last 36 months apart.

When Ron left for a month in DH, it would have been the longest time Ron and Hermione had spent apart from one another since they were 14.
