'Avengers: Endgame': Pepper Tells Tony That He Can Rest Now

Tony Stark is critically hurt after using the Infinity Stones to end the conflict between Thanos and the Avengers. His actions save the entire universe, and as he fades out of consciousness, his wife Pepper Potts tells him, "We're going to be okay. You can rest now."

The scene is a callback to an earlier point in the movie when Pepper reminds Tony that he will never rest if he doesn't try to bring back those who were lost. Tony worked his whole life for the family he briefly got to enjoy in Endgame, the emotionally charged ending to Iron Man's story is made even sadder by Robert Downey Jr.'s retirement from the role.
