I’m not crying, you’re crying! The saddest new TV shows should come with a warning to buy extra Kleenex. If you’re ever in the mood for a serious ugly cry, or just need to get in touch with your emotions, the saddest shows of 2019 are the perfect place to start.
The weepy drama This Is Us is not just a sad show - but it also happens to be one of the most narratively innovative series on television. Of course, current dramas like A Million Little Things and Grey’s Anatomy (a show where basically everyone dies) are specifically designed to make a person sob like a baby without a binkie.
But there are several current sneaky shows that one would not think of in the traditional of sense of “sad.” For example, if you don’t believe that the animated seriesBoJack Horseman can induce Niagara Falls-level tears, you better think again.
