Who are the most anti-gay US&nbsp;politicians? The list is a long one, including politicians from both parties (though a majority are Republican). The politicians listed here&nbsp;have spoken out vocally against gay rights, most notably&nbsp;gay marriage.

Anti-gay politicians are the elected leaders whose rhetoric is often totally over-the-top against LGBT rights. Upon his return from Iraq, he became an anti-war activist and an advocate for the Iraq Veterans Against the War group. He emerged as a radio talk show host in 2011 when his TV, radio and web access show Adam vs. The Man was licensed by RT America, until it was cancelled months later due to an FEC complaint.
He first came to national attention after his photograph appeared in various newspapers, including the front page of the Los Angeles Times at a protest during Alberto Gonzales's testimony to Congress regarding the dismissal of U.S. attorneys.

Alberto Torrico

Alberto Torrico was elected to the California State Assembly in 2004.  He served for 6 years, including two years as Majority Leader.
During his three terms in Sacramento, Alberto served as Chair of the Public Employee Retirement and Social Security Committee, charged with oversight of the pension funds, CALPERS and CALSTRS.  He also chaired the Governmental Organization Committee.
In the California Democratic primary of 2010, Alberto ran unsuccessfully for Attorney General.
After being termed out of office, Torrico was appointed to the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board in January 2011. Prior to his legislative tenure, Alberto served as a council member for three years in the East Bay community of Newark.

Bill Kenney

William Patrick Kenney (born January 20, 1955) is a retired quarterback who spent nine years in the National Football League with the Kansas City Chiefs from 1980 to 1988 and a former politician who spent 8 years as a Missouri State Senator. Kenney was originally drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the 12th round of the 1978 NFL Draft.

Bob St. Clair

Robert Bruce St. Clair, nicknamed "The Geek" (February 18, 1931 – April 20, 2015) was a professional American football player. Because of his eccentricities, his teammates nicknamed him "The Geek".St. Clair held the distinction of having been one of the few players in history to have spent almost his entire playing career in the same city, playing in the same stadium. St. Clair attended San Francisco's Polytechnic High School (located across the street from the stadium) and the University of San Francisco, and was part of USF's undefeated 1951 team. After USF dropped football, St. Clair finished his college career at the University of Tulsa. He was then drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in 1953 and played his entire professional career in San Francisco until his retirement prior to the 1964 season.
In 2001, as a tribute for playing a total of 17 seasons and 189 home games at Kezar Stadium, the city of San Francisco renamed the stadium's field in honor of St. Clair. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1990.
St. Clair also served as mayor of Daly City, California from 1958 to 1964 (while still an active player) and a county supervisor for San Mateo County from 1966 to 1974. For many years he owned a liquor store at 24th and Sanchez in Noe Valley, which still bears his name.During St. Clair's tenure as mayor, the Philadelphia Warriors of the National Basketball Association moved to the Cow Palace in Daly City and became the San Francisco Warriors. The team moved to the Oakland Coliseum Arena in 1971 and took its current name, the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors won games 2 and 3 of the 1975 NBA World Championship Series at the Cow Palace en route to a four-game sweep of the Washington Bullets.
St. Clair broke his hip in February 2015; complications led to his death in Santa Rosa, California on April 20, 2015 at the age of 84.

Bob Wieckowski

Robert A. Wieckowski (born February 18, 1955) is an American attorney and politician who currently serves in the California State Senate. A Democrat, he represents the 10th Senate District, which encompasses the central and southern portions of the East Bay and South Bay.
He announced a bid to replace Eric Swalwell as the representative for California's 15th congressional district, but dropped out a few weeks later.

Brooksley Born

Brooksley E. Born (born August 27, 1940) is an American attorney and former public official who, from August 26, 1996, to June 1, 1999, was chairperson of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), the federal agency which oversees the futures and commodity options markets. During her tenure on the CFTC, Born lobbied Congress and the President to give the CFTC oversight of off-exchange markets for derivatives in addition to its role with respect to exchange-traded derivatives, but her warnings were ignored or dismissed, and her calls for reform resisted by other regulators. Born resigned as chairperson on June 1, 1999, shortly after Congress passed legislation prohibiting her agency from regulating derivatives.In 2009, Born received the John F. Kennedy Profiles in Courage Award, along with Sheila Bair of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in recognition of the "political courage she demonstrated in sounding early warnings about conditions that contributed to the current global financial crisis".

Dan James White

Daniel James White (September 2, 1946 – October 21, 1985) was a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors who murdered San Francisco Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk, on Monday, November 27, 1978, at City Hall. In a controversial verdict that led to the coining of the legal slang "Twinkie defense", White was convicted of manslaughter rather than murder in the deaths of Milk and Moscone. White served five years of a seven-year prison sentence. Less than two years after his release he returned to San Francisco, where he died by suicide.

Carlene M. Walker

Carlene M. Walker is an American politician and businesswoman from Utah. A Republican, she was a member of the Utah State Senate, representing the state's 8th senate district in Salt Lake County, from 2001 to 2009. Later she was chairwoman of the state DUI committee.

Caspar Weinberger

Caspar Willard "Cap" Weinberger (August 18, 1917 – March 28, 2006) was an American politician and businessman. As a prominent Republican, he served in a variety of state and federal positions for three decades, including Chairman of the California Republican Party, 1962–68. Most notably he was Secretary of Defense under President Ronald Reagan from 1981 to 1987.Weinberger was born in San Francisco, California. He served in the 41st Infantry Division in the Pacific theater of World War II. Weinberger's entry into politics was as a California State Assemblyman from 1953 to 1959, and he would go on to serve as Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission and Director of the Office of Management and Budget under Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. An accomplished private sector businessman, he later became vice president and general counsel of Bechtel Corporation, and still later Chairman of Forbes magazine.
Weinberger's tenure as Secretary of Defense is the third longest in U.S. history, and spanned the final years of the Cold War. He is also known for his key role in the administration's Strategic Defense Initiative and for being indicted in the Iran–Contra affair. Weinberger was awarded both the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1987 and an honorary British knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II.

Clint Eastwood

Clinton Eastwood Jr. (born May 31, 1930) is an American actor, filmmaker, musician, and politician. After achieving success in the Western TV series Rawhide, he rose to international fame with his role as the Man with No Name in Italian filmmaker Sergio Leone's Dollars Trilogy of spaghetti Westerns during the 1960s and as antihero cop Harry Callahan in the five Dirty Harry films throughout the 1970s and 1980s. These roles, among others, have made Eastwood an enduring cultural icon of masculinity.For his work in the Western film Unforgiven (1992) and the sports drama Million Dollar Baby (2004), Eastwood won Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Picture, as well as receiving nominations for Best Actor. Darrell Steinberg

Darrell Steven Steinberg (born October 15, 1959) is an American politician and attorney who is the 56th mayor of Sacramento, California since December 2016. He was elected to be mayor on June 7, 2016 (avoiding a runoff). Before that, he was California Senate President pro Tempore and the leader of the majority party in the California State Senate from 2008 to 2014.
Steinberg was a Democratic member of the California State Senate representing the  6th District. He had also previously served as a member of the California State Assembly (1998–2004) and as a member of the Sacramento City Council (1992–1998).



David Miller

David Raymond Miller (born December 26, 1958) is the North American director for the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, a former Mayor of Toronto and former president and CEO of WWF-Canada, the Canadian division of the international World Wildlife Fund.A former politician, Miller was the 63rd Mayor of Toronto from 2003 to 2010. He entered politics as a member of the New Democratic Party, although his mayoral campaign and terms in office were without any formal party affiliation. He allowed his party membership to lapse in 2007. Miller declined to seek a third term as mayor in the 2010 election, citing family reasons. He subsequently served as an advisor on urban issues at the World Bank from 2011 to 2013.

Dianne Feinstein

Dianne Goldman Berman Feinstein (; born Dianne Emiel Goldman, June 22, 1933) is an American politician serving as the senior United States Senator from California. She took office on November 4, 1992. A member of the Democratic Party, Feinstein was Mayor of San Francisco from 1978 to 1988.Born in San Francisco, Feinstein graduated from Stanford University in 1955 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. In the 1960s, she worked in city government, and she was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1969. She served as the board's first female president in 1978, during which time the assassinations of Mayor George Moscone and City Supervisor Harvey Milk by Dan White drew national attention. Feinstein succeeded Moscone as Mayor of San Francisco and became the first woman to serve in that position. During her tenure, she led the renovation of the city's cable car system, and oversaw the 1984 Democratic National Convention.
After losing a race for governor in 1990, Feinstein won a 1992 special election to the U.S. Senate. Feinstein was first elected on the same ballot as her peer Barbara Boxer, and the two women became California's first female U.S. Senators. Feinstein has been re-elected five times since then, and in the 2012 election, she received 7.75 million votes--the most popular votes in any U.S. Senate election in history.Feinstein was the author of the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban which expired in 2004. In 2013, she introduced a new assault weapons bill which failed to pass. Feinstein is the first and only woman to have chaired the Senate Rules Committee (2007–2009) and the Select Committee on Intelligence (2009–2015). To date, she is also the only woman to have presided over a U.S. presidential inauguration. At the age of 86, Feinstein is the oldest sitting U.S. Senator. Upon the retirement of Barbara Mikulski in January 2017, Feinstein became the longest-tenured female U.S. Senator currently serving in the Senate. Having won reelection in 2018 to a six-year term expiring in January 2025, Feinstein will become the longest-serving female Senator in history should she serve her full term.

Domingo Cavallo

Domingo Felipe "Mingo" Cavallo (born San Francisco, Córdoba, July 21, 1946) is an Argentine economist and politician. He has a track record of public service and is known for implementing the Convertibilidad plan, which fixed the dollar-peso exchange rate at 1:1 between 1991 and 2001. This brought the Argentine inflation rate down from over 1,300% in 1990 to less than 20% in 1992 and nearly to zero during the rest of the 1990s. Guided by his politics, Argentina entered into one of the most difficult crisis in its history. He is also well known for implementing the corralito, which restrained Argentine citizens from withdrawing money from their bank accounts. This was followed by the December 2001 riots and the fall of President Fernando de la Rúa. In 2015, he was sentenced for embezzlement, following an appeal. A definitive sentence still awaits.

Ed Jew

Edmund Jew (simplified Chinese: 赵悦明; traditional Chinese: 趙悦明; pinyin: Zhào Yuèmíng; Jyutping: ziu6 jyut6 ming4; born 1960) is an American former politician and businessman, who was convicted of extortion, bribery, and perjury in 2008.
He graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in economics and later earned a master's degree in business administration at Golden Gate University. After spending several years as a businessman managing his family enterprises, he entered politics in 1980s and went on to serve in various community organizations. In 1996, he was the volunteer liaison for then District 4 supervisor Leland Yee. In 2002, Yee successfully ran for a seat in the California Assembly, and Jew ran for Yee's seat on the Board of Supervisors in the 2002 election, but was defeated. When Yee's successor Fiona Ma in 2006 ran for state assembly, Jew again ran for supervisor in District 4, which comprises most of the Sunset District. After winning a highly competitive election decided by instant-runoff voting, he was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.
Six months after he took office, the FBI raided his office and homes for allegedly extorting money from small business owners in his district. Shortly after the raid, the city attorney began investigating Jew for violating residency requirements necessary to hold his supervisor position. In September 2007, he was suspended by Mayor Gavin Newsom and later resigned in the face of extortion and perjury charges. In late 2008, he pleaded guilty to both charges. He was sentenced to 64 months in federal prison for extortion, and a year in county jail for perjury.

Edgar C. Levey

Edgar C. Levey (August 4, 1881 – October 8, 1962) was a Republican Speaker of the California Assembly and an assistant District Attorney in San Francisco in the early 1900s.

Eduardo Barrios Manzano (born September 14, 1955) is an American-born Filipino actor, comedian, politician, television personality and United States Air Force veteran.  He was previously the host of game shows The Weakest Link, Pilipinas, Game KNB?, 1 vs. 100  and  Asar Talo Lahat Panalo!.

Elmer Robinson

Elmer Edwin "Rob-Rob" Robinson (October 3, 1894 – June 9, 1982) was the 33rd mayor of San Francisco, California.  A Republican, he served as San Francisco's mayor from January 1948 until January 1956.
Robinson was born in the Richmond District of San Francisco, but primarily grew up in the northern California town of Fort Bragg. He moved back to San Francisco to attend night law school, after which he was admitted to the bar in 1915. He served as a deputy district attorney of San Francisco County, 1915 to 1921. He worked for 15 years, as a civil and criminal attorney in private practice.
In 1933, President Franklin D. Roosevelt appointed Robinson to direct adjustment of claims of World War I veterans, at the request of the Disabled American Veterans.
In January 1935, he became a Municipal Court judge, nine months later a Superior Court judge. Elected to two six-year terms on the San Francisco County Superior bench, 1936 and 1942.
During World War II, Judge Robinson served as California State Chairman of a national salvage committee.
Elmer Robinson was elected mayor of San Francisco in November 1947, taking office the following January.  He was reelected to another four-year term as mayor in 1951.
While Robinson was mayor, he promoted and oversaw numerous development projects, including an expansion of San Francisco International Airport and the construction of new schools, libraries, police stations, parking garages, and the modernization of the San Francisco Municipal Railway. San Francisco, although relatively prosperous in the boom years after World War II, experienced some population loss to outlying suburban areas during Robinson's terms in office.
He returned to his law practice and served as president and general manager of Woodlawn Memorial Park.
While a resident of San Francisco, Judge Robinson died in Paradise, Butte County, California, on June 8, 1982 at age 87.

Eric Mar

Eric Lee Mar (born August 15, 1962) is an American politician. He served on the San Francisco Board of Education and San Francisco County Democratic Central Committee.  In 2008, he was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. He represented District 1.

Eugene Schmitz

Eugene Edward "Handsome Gene" Schmitz (August 22, 1864 – November 20, 1928) was an American musician and politician, the 26th mayor of San Francisco (1902-7), who was in office during the 1906 San Francisco earthquake.

Fanny Edelman

Fanny Jacovkis, better known as Fanny Edelman was an Argentine politician that was part of the International Brigades in defense of the Second Spanish Republic. She was president of the Communist Party of Argentina until the day of her death.

Gavin Newsom

Gavin Christopher Newsom (born October 10, 1967) is an American politician and businessman who is the 40th governor of California, serving since January 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served as the 49th lieutenant governor of California from 2011 to 2019 and as the 42nd mayor of San Francisco from 2004 to 2011. He was sworn in as Governor of California on January 7, 2019.Newsom attended Redwood High School, and graduated from Santa Clara University. After graduation, he founded the PlumpJack wine store with family friend Gordon Getty as an investor. The PlumpJack Group grew to manage 23 businesses, including wineries, restaurants, and hotels. Newsom began his political career in 1996, when San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown appointed him to serve on the city's Parking and Traffic Commission. Brown appointed Newsom to fill a vacancy on the Board of Supervisors the following year, and Newsom was later elected to the Board in 1998, 2000, and 2002.
In 2003, Newsom was elected the 42nd mayor of San Francisco, becoming the city's youngest mayor in a century. Newsom was re-elected in 2007 with 72 percent of the vote. He was elected Lieutenant Governor of California in 2010 as the running mate of Jerry Brown, and was re-elected in 2014. In February 2015, Newsom announced his candidacy for Governor of California in the 2018 election. On June 5, 2018, he finished in the top two of the non-partisan blanket primary. Newsom defeated Republican John H. Cox in the general election on November 6.
Newsom hosted The Gavin Newsom Show on Current TV and wrote the 2013 book Citizenville.
