One of the creepiest types of horror, found recordings are often presented as the only known surviving evidence about a bloody event, like torture or mass slaughter. The 1980 film Cannibal Holocaust is recognized as one of the earliest in the genre, featuring lost film canisters found by anthropologists. Due to its graphic brutality and violence, the movie was banned in several countries, and its director was even charged with obscenity and with making a snuff film.
