Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, the series of books by author Alvin Schwartz and illustrators Stephen Gammell and Brett Helquist, has been scaring children since the early '80s. Kids who grew up reading these tales are undoubtedly excited for director André Øvredal's 2019 movie inspired by them. The monsters covered in the film include Harold, the Pale Woman, the ghost from the Haunted House story, the Red Dot spiders, the Toe Ghoul, and even the cinematic original Jangly Man.
The Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark monsters vs. their illustrated counterparts are just as spooky as fans might hope. In fact, these creations are so scary, it might be best to see this film during the day.
