The Most Brutal 'Scream' Kills In The Film Franchise

Voting Rules

Vote up the most vicious deaths from the slasher films.

There have been over 60 deaths in the Scream film franchise, throughout all six movies. Some Scream kills are more memorable - and brutal - than others. Note: This list covers deaths from all six movies, so major spoiler alert from this point forward.

From deaths that were especially heartbreaking, like Anika in Scream VI or Derek in Scream 2, to the ones that felt a bit more warranted, but nevertheless ruthless, like that of Jill in Scream 4, this is your chance to rank them. Another unforgettable death is that of Tatum, Sidneyโ€™s best friend in the first film. She had the misfortune of getting trapped in the cat flap of a (moving) garage door.

Scream fans all have their differing opinions on the scariest or most violent Ghostface, and this is an opportunity for everyone to duke it out by voting. Each moment below features which movie it is from, which actor or actress played the victim, and a brief description of what happened. Vote up the deaths you think were the grisliest below.

    Film: Scream
    Played by: Drew Barrymore
Situation: The Scream queen who started it allโ€ฆ Barrymore was initially offered the lead role, but she opted to play Casey, the opening sequence murder victim, to the shock of audiences. This iconic opening sequence is brutal, with Ghostface beginning the cat and mouse chase with a call asking scary movie trivia. After Casey gets a question wrong, she has to see her gutted boyfriend tied to a chair, before getting chased herself. She is stabbed multiple times, and then hung from a tree. To top it all off, her parents arrive home just in time to hear her dying breaths on the phone, but they cannot save her.

    Film: Scream 4
    Played by: Marielle Jaffe
Situation: Olivia Morris tried to stay alive by avoiding Sidney, or the โ€œangel of death,โ€ as she liked to call her. Unfortunately, that allowed Ghostface to catch her all alone in her bedroom. GF surprises her by jumping out of her closet, stabbing her in her left shoulder, left hand, back, and repeatedly in the stomach. As if that weren't enough, he then smashes her head through her own bedroom window, while her friends look on from across the street.

    Steve Orth

    Film: Scream VI
    Played by: Kevin Patrick Walls
Situation: Steve is barely even in the movie, and yet he still had one of the more brutal deaths. Poor Steve was just a pawn in Ghostface's plan to terrorize Casey. Steve was gutted while tied to a chair in his girlfriend's backyard, and he died knowing that she was going to be next, and there was nothing he could do to stop it.

    Film: Scream
    Played by: Rose McGowan
Situation: Poor Tatum doesn't get to make it to the sequel. Her two-faced boyfriend sends her into the garage for beer, where she encounters Ghostface. After getting cut on the arm by Ghostface, and seemingly cornered, Tatum panics and tries to escape through the cat door. She gets stuck, and GF uses that to his advantage, turning on the garage door, which makes the cat flap dig into her ribs as she lifts. He then lets the mechanism finish Tatum off when it gets to the top, and snaps her neck.

    Film: Scream VI
    Played by: Devyn Nekoda
Situation: When Ghostface traps them at Tara, Quinn, and Sam's apartment, Mindy, Anika, and Sam have no choice but to climb across a ladder to escape into Danny's apartment across the way. Poor Anika had already been stabbed by Ghostface in the stomach, and was bleeding out, so she opts to cross the ladder last. Unfortunately for her, the combination of her injuries and immobilizing fear find her trapped yet again, as Ghostface finally breaks into the room, and begins to shake the ladder from the other side. Anika tries to hold on, but eventually falls, smashing her head on a dumpster on the way down. A close-up of the brutal damage is Anika's swan song.
