List Rules Vote up the classic films appropriate for kids and teens that will teach them to love and respect slapstick movies.

Elements of screwball comedies are a staple of programming for young children - such as slapstick, over the top characters, and ridiculous situations. But, as kids age into teens and tweens, the G-rated variety of screwball comedy gets old. Luckily, there are plenty of films to get kids into screwball comedy. Sure, the genre has plenty of adult material. The Coen brothers are modern masters, but is Raising Arizona really kid friendly? If you want something that strikes the balance between mature and appropriate, read on! Here, you'll find some classic screwball movies kids can watch.

Screwball comedies are a genre of film that first arose during the Great Depression. Folks enjoyed escapist comedies featuring ridiculous situations. Most often, these films flipped gender roles between men and women, which was rather risque at the time, and featured larger than life plots. If you want your kids to see an example of an early screwball comedy, the Marilyn Monroe classic Some Like It Hot is totally appropriate for a younger audience. Other beginner screwball movies are a little more modern, but just as good. The '80s classic Ferris Bueller's Day Off has some raunchy bits, but mostly keeps things clean. There's also the world of Monty Python! Holy Grail and The Meaning of Life are great for kids and adults (although, the latter may be more appropriate for teens than tweens).

What are the best screwball comedies to introduce kids to the genre? Vote up your favorites below!
