High school senior pranks are a rite of passage for graduating students. Most seniors stay innocent, opting to fill up a classroom with balloons, throw some confetti around, or fork the football field. But other students get a little ahead of themselves and manage to let things get out of hand. Some notorious senior pranks have resulted in racism, arrests, and even animal cruelty. These are the pranks that get kids banned from walking at graduation. Some of them were so bad, the pranksters had to face major legal charges. The right senior prank can live on in high school infamy forever. But the wrong senior prank could land you in the slammer.
These teens couldn't resist the temptation to escalate a fun prank to a potentially dangerous next level. Messing with animals and destroying school property aren't taken lightly by school officials... or the police. And considering most seniors are of legal age, the consequences are serious. If these kids were worried about missing grad night, maybe they should have been more concerned about getting a conviction on their record right before going off to college.
Here you'll find some of the worst senior pranks gone awry. These students managed to take their silly high school shenanigans from zero to 60, and it landed them in handcuffs, in jail, or in some deep, deep trouble. Here are the senior pranks that went way too far.
Two Connecticut high school students were arrested for a senior prank that involved dismembering a baby cow and scattering its parts throughout their campus. Police discovered countless pieces of the calf throughout various areas around the school, including its head in the basketball hoop and legs above ceiling tiles.
When the authorities searched the kids' cars, they found a machete and charged them with possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle. After further research, police concluded the cow had already been struck by a car days before, but that the teens had cut the animal up into pieces.
In 2003, Mason High School students released a variety of animals stolen from a farm onto their school campus. At least one animal - a peacock - perished as a result of the incident. A kitten and rabbit were reported missing following the event.
The students were charged with animal cruelty and theft.
McCluer High School seniors took a prank too far when they unleashed an unpredictable hell on their schoolmates. Masked seniors proceeded to bombard students with firecrackers, cherry bombs, smoke bombs, and water guns filled with bleach and urine.
Some students experienced minor injuries as a result of the prank.
Students at Sequoyah High in Tennessee walked into their school after hours as security guards looked on - one even helped the students get into the building. From there, 100 students obliterated their high school, trashing everything in sight. Kids urinated on the walls, slicked baby oil and marbles all over the floors, dropped goldfish into toilets, and even plopped a deceased possum on the floor.
Security guards who enabled the mayhem were swiftly fired and the high school principal was placed on leave following investigation. Over 100 students were banned from attending graduation and three teachers even filed compensation claims after slipping and falling in the aftermath.
