He's a Fantastic Singer, and Had Some Incredible Trainers
Any fan of Family Guy knows that Seth MacFarlane loves singing, but many people don't know that he's actually quite a talented singer. He's released a number of albums, and has even won a Grammy. MacFarlane has worked with some of the best vocal coaches in the industry to hone his singing talent.“I was trained by a couple in Los Angeles that were both in their 90s at the time who worked with Sinatra at one point, trained him at one point, trained with Streisand at one point. They show you how to do it with no help. There are certain tools you can use in terms of your voice to sculpt your interpretation of the piece.”
He Has a Creative Way of Acting with Himself
During his Reddit AMA, he was asked if it was weird to record multiple characters at once by himself. He explained his methods to curious fans in the below statement:"Often I'll record one voice first, leaving pauses for the other character's lines. I'll then play back the first character in my headphones while voicing the second character, so it feels like I'm playing opposite another actor."
He Acted Out Ted's Bodily Movements on Set
Seth MacFarlane was doing a lot on the set of Ted. Not only was he the writer, the director, and the voice of Ted, he was also the physical body of Ted! He was hooked up to sensors that the CGI team used to match Ted's body movements in the film. It must have been so fun to have the voice of Ted acting out the scenes side by side with the other actors.
His Mother Had Her Pelvis Crushed, Saving His - and His Sister's - Lives
There was a terrifying incident when Seth was a baby that gave him that scar on his head, and left his mother horribly injured.“When I was a kid, I was about four years old, my mother was driving me to nursery school and my sister was in the car, she was 2-years-old. When I say car, the family car was a red Volkswagen bus, my parents were ex-hippies. It was the middle of winter, and my mother pulled up to a house to pick up another kid. She parks the bus on a hill, but the break was on an ice patch. The break slips, the bus starts rolling down the hill. My mother screams, runs after the bus, grabs me and pulls me out, grabs my sister, then pulls her out. I landed on my head, and split my head open. It gets so much more gruesome than that. Everybody was fine after the fact, but the bus went up on a snow bank, tipped over and fell on top of her. So from stomach down, she’s under the bus, you know, and she shattered her pelvis, and spent 2 months in the hospital.”
