It won’t come as a surprise to anyone to say that Hollywood has its fair share of oddballs. Some of them are a bit too strange to handle and make people take a few steps back, while others… well, it just adds to their charm. Take Shailene Woodley, for example: she's completely quirky and doing her own thing 100% of the time, but owns it like no other. She's not afraid to show her zany, oddball self to people - Shailene Woodley is weird and proud of it.
Shailene Woodley rose to fame as that girl from the Divergent series and The Secret Life Of The American Teenager. But she soon filled so many other roles showing off her extreme talent. While her acting chops have definitely endeared her to many and earned her plenty of fans, her quirky personality has become another reason why people love her so much.
Some of the things she talks about are extremely relatable, as in: “Whenever I need a pick-me-up, I just watch Pocahontas,” while others… eh, maybe not so much: "I think the future of food is in insects."
If you didn't like her before reading this, it's almost guaranteed you will after you see why fans love Shailene Woodley. Plus - how can anyone not like Shailene Woodley?! Did you not see Big Little Lies???
She Eats Clay Like It's No Big DealPhoto: Wikimedia Commons / CC-BY
Yeah, you read that right, Shailene enjoys eating clay. But she doesn't do it for the pure joy of eating clay - she learned that eating clay has a lot of health benefits to it. The best part is that she learned all of this from her taxi driver - yeah, you don't need to be a professor to impart some serious wisdom.
I first heard about the benefits of eating clay from a taxi driver. He was African and was saying that, where he’s from, the women eat clay when they’re pregnant. Seriously—ask your taxi drivers where they are from and about their customs. You will learn a lot.
So what's the deal with clay? Well, some people claim it has great benefits for your health, including cleansing various organs, strengthening your immune system, and much more.Is this quirky?

It's not about looks, alright? It's about health. Everyone knows the sun is an amazing source of Vitamin D, which is essential to our health and well-being. While its benefits are pretty general, it turns out Vitamin D is specifically very helpful in maintaining healthy reproductive organs. So what does Shai do? Well, if she feels she needs a little extra care down below, she makes a point of getting some sun, as she told Into The Gloss:
I like to give my [body] a little vitamin D. I was reading an article written by an herbalist about yeast infections and other... issues, and she said there’s nothing better than vitamin D. If you’re feeling depleted, go in the sun for an hour and see how much energy you get. Or, if you live in a place that has heavy winters, when the sun finally comes out, spread your legs and get some sunshine. Is this quirky?
She'll Occasionally Chow Down On A Bug Or TwoVideo: YouTube
If bugs are not your jam, you may want to skip this one. Because Shailene has been known to eat a few bugs in her day. In an interview with Nylon, the interviewer asked what the strangest thing she ever ate was. Her response? She's eaten both ants and June bugs. According to Shailene, they were both "great!" "I think the future of food is in insects," she said.

She's Used An Herb To Enhance Her DreamsPhoto: ABC Family
Dreams can literally be the most pleasant escapes or your worst nightmares. But Shailene has a fascination with dreams. She's shared a lot about her dreams, from Jurassic Park-related nightmares to a reoccurring one she has of her and her father commandeering a pirate ship.
She has even tried a herb known for its dream-enhancing abilities. Let's just hope it doesn't enhance her Jurassic Park-themed nightmares.
There is an herb called mugwort that I’ve tried, which is supposed to help enhance dreams. You can burn a little before bed or sleep on a mugwort pillow. It’s found in all parts of America, East Coast and West—anytime you see weeds growing through cracks in a parking lot, there’s probably mugwort. You can harvest it yourself, dry it, bundle it, and burn it like sage.Is this quirky?
