"Silver Linings Playbook" movie quotes follow the story of two lost souls looking for that silver lining as they attempt to regain control over their lives. The romantic comedy-drama was adapted from the novel of the same name by Matthew Quick into a screenplay by David O. Russell. Russel also directs the film which premiered first at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival prior to opening on November 21, 2012. It went on to receive numerous award nominations including consideration for the Best Picture honor at the Academy Awards.
In "Silver Linings Playbook," Pat Solitano (Bradley Cooper) returns to live with his parents (Robert De Niro and Jacki Weaver) after a stay in a mental institution following an incident in which he snapped following finding his wife in the shower of their home with another man. Pat tries his best to regain his physical and mental health in an effort to win back his wife, Nikki, however she has clearly moved on. Still dealing with some mental struggles and seeing a therapist, Pat is introduced to Tiffany (Jennier Lawrence), a woman dealing with her own issues following the sudden death of her husband.
Pat and Tiffany are initially short with each other and clash but soon realize that they have more in common than they thought. As a favor to a friend, Tiffany agrees to help Pat get his wife back but only on the condition that Pat helps her in a dancing event that requires two people. As they train together, the pair begin to bond in ways they didn't see coming exposing silver linings that they never expected. Chris Tucker, Anupam Kher, John Ortiz and Julia Stiles co-star in the film.In addition to "Silver Linings Playbook," dozens of other great movies were in theaters at the same time including "Skyfall," "Lincoln," "Flight," "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2," "Anna Karenina," "This Must Be the Place," "Cloud Atlas," "Wreck-It Ralph," "Nobody Walks," "The Sessions," "Silent Hill: Revelation 3D," "Chasing Mavericks," "Alex Cross," "Smashed," "Sinister," "Seven Psychopaths," "Argo," and "Looper."
Pat: "What the?! Let me just break it down for you guys. This whole time you're rooting for this Hemingway guy to survive the war and to be with the woman that he loves, Catherine Barkley."After reading "A Farewell to Arms," Pat barges into his parents' bedroom in the middle of the night to rant about the book. Though he's clearly bothered by how the novel played out, his folks are not wanting to hear of this, at least not at that early morning hour.
Dolores: "It's four o'clock in the morning, Pat."
Pat: "And he does, he does, he survives the war after getting blown up. He survives it and he escapes to Switzerland with Catherine. You think he ends it there? No! She dies, dad! I mean, the world's hard enough as it is, guys. Can't someone say, hey let's be positive? Let's have a good ending to the story?"
Dolores: "Pat, you owe us an apology."
Pat: "Mom, I can't, for what, I can't apologize. I'm not going to apologize for this. You know what I will do? I will apologize on behalf of Ernest Hemingway because that's who's to blame here."
Pat Sr.: "Yeah, have Ernest Hemingway call us and apologize to us too."Should this be higher or lower?
A Shot at A Silver Lining
Pat: "I'm ready! I'm motivated, I don't feel so angry all the time."Either saying what the doctor wants to hear or truly happy, Pat explains his new outlook on life in that if you stay positive you can turn your life around.
Dr. Patel: "Pat, you have to have a strategy."
Pat: "I hate my illness and I want to control it. This is what I believe to be true: You have to do everything you can and if you stay positive you have a shot at a silver lining."Should this be higher or lower?
Meds and Social Skills
Tiffany: "What meds are you on?"After an awkward meeting, dinner is equally as strange between Pat and Tiffany as they discuss various mood-atering drugs they've taken in the past. Though Pat and Tiffany clash slightly at first, this interaction could just be the beginning of something special.
Pat: "Me? None. I used to be on Lithium and Seroquel and Abilify but I don't take them anymore, no. They make me foggy and they also make me bloated."
Tiffany: "Yeah, I was on Xanax and Effexor but I agree, I wasn't as sharp so I stopped."
Pat: "You ever take Klonopin?"
Tiffany: "Klonopin, yeah!"
Pat: "What day is it?"
Tiffany: "Ha ha"
Pat: "What about Trazodone?"
Pat: "What, it flattens you out. I mean, you are done. It takes the light right out of your eyes."
Tiffany: "Yeah it does... I'm tired, I want to go."
Veronica: "No, no, no, no, no, we haven't even finished the salad yet or the duck. I made the fire and ice cake."
Tiffany: "I said I'm tired. Are you going to walk me home or what?" Pat: "You mean me?"
Tiffany: "Yeah, you. Are you going to walk me home?"
Pat: "You have poor social skills. You have a problem."
Tiffany: "I have a problem? You say more inappropriate things than appropriate things. You scare people."
Pat: "I tell the truth. You're mean."Should this be higher or lower?

Tiffany: "Can we get through one f***ing conversation without you reminding me that my god**** husband's dead?"As much as he is urged not to talk about Tiffany's dead husband, Pat just cannot drop the subject until he learns exactly what happened. Clearly, this annoys Tiffany to no end.Should this be higher or lower?
