With rumors of a Sister, Sister reboot regularly resurfacing, the world is caught up remembering the good ol’ days when the '90s classic was in its sitcom prime. Tia, Tamera, and the rest of the cast were undeniably lovable. But it’s been well over a decade since the show concluded.
The show premiered on April 1, 1994, and aired for six glorious seasons before concluding in May 1999. The show was a staple for those who grew up in the '90s, and the cast certainly left an impression on America. It's no surprise most of the actors have gone on to find great success. The cast is dominating not only the film industry, but also a wide variety of other fields. The cast's current careers include everything from music to law to psychotherapy.
Some of the stories shared by the Sister, Sister alumni are just what you would expect, but others are awfully surprising.
Tia Mowry-Hardrict, who played Tia, one of the twins separated from her sister at birth, has taken her talents to the Cooking Channel. The TV chef has her own show, Tia Mowry at Home, and has even authored a cookbook called Whole New You: How Real Food Transforms Your Life for a Healthier, More Gorgeous You. She is married to actor Cory Hardrict and welcomed her second child in May 2018.
Like her character Tamera on Sister, Sister, Tamera Mowry-Housley has a lot to say. Not only is she a host on the talk show The Real, alongside former Disney Channel stars Adrienne Bailon, Jeannie Mai and Loni Love, she also has her own show on HGTV. The Housleys, an interior design series, features Mowry-Housley's renovation projects in Napa Valley with her husband, Adam, and their two kids, Aden and Ariah.
After playing Ray, the patriarch of the Sister, Sister family, Tim Reid continued acting. His long list of projects includes That '70s Show and Treme, as well as the OWN network original drama series Greenleaf.
Reid is also a civil rights advocate; he says he was inspired to change his life by Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous 1963 speech. In February 2018, he visited Voorhees College and spoke as a part of its Black History Month speaker series.
Marques Houston played the twins' neighbor Roger, who transformed from an annoying teenager into a perfect gentleman. Houston himself transformed after the show as well, becoming a solo music star. He was initially part of the group Immature, but left in 2003 to pursue a solo career. The multi-talented actor found great success in music, and even made Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums list. In 2013 he released a solo album, Famous. Houston has continued acting as well, appearing in a variety of television shows and movies.
Jackée Harry has enjoyed a long and successful career. Her memorable role as Sandra Clark on 227 won her an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy, and she brought her formidable skills to her time playing fashion designer and mother Lisa on Sister, Sister.
Since the show ended, Harry has continued to shine in sitcoms, appearing in episodes of 2 Broke Girls, Girl Meets World, Baby Daddy, That’s So Raven, Young & Hungry, and most recently, The Paynes. The actress also became a grandmother in 2017.
RonReaco Lee played the part of mechanic Tyreke, AKA Ty, who became Tia's boyfriend in the last two seasons of Sister, Sister. After the series wrapped, the versatile actor continued performing, appearing in everything from sitcoms to intense law dramas. After starring in the Starz original comedy Survivor's Remorse, he moved on to work on the BET series The Quad.
Lee apparently remembers his time on Sister, Sister fondly – he mentioned in an interview on Tamera Mowry-Housley's talk show The Real that he was down for a Sister, Sister reboot.
