Wine has long been a favored drink of hedonists, so it’s not surprising that many musicians have documented their love of the beverage with songs about wine. From ballads about winemaking to tales of drunken debauchery, this list of wine songs runs the gamut of alcohol-inspired music making, ranked by music and wine lovers everywhere. Apparently wine has cross-genre appeal: everyone from country stars like Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson, to rap groups like the Beastie Boys and N.W.A., to hard rockers Cream, have paid tribute to wine in song form.
“Red Red Wine” is one of the most iconic and best songs about wine, with a well-known version by UB40, a reggae group who covered Neil Diamond's ‘60s hit original. Both versions are on the Songs About Wine list.
Jeff Buckley’s “Lilac Wine” is a cover as well, of Nina Simone’s original, and Oasis was another ‘90s group who shined a light on the spirit with their memorably titled hit “Champagne Supernova.”
Metal rockers love the beverage as well, as shown by Soul Asylum’s “Blood into Wine” and Celtic Frost’s “Wine in My Hand (Third from the Sun)” and “Juices Like Wine.”Rank the songs about wine that wet your whistle! Please add any tunes that give you a buzz that we missed.
