Developed by Insomniac Games, Spider-Man for the PlayStation 4 has quickly become one of the best-reviewed games of the year. The word most frequently associated with the game is "freedom." The attention paid to Peter Parker's comic book history demonstrates how Insomniac Games did their homework for this one.

The sheer number of Spider-Man PS4 unlockable suits provides hours of additional fun for players. Not only do players get to explore a near-authentic virtual landscape of Manhattan via web-slinging, but they also get to peruse the rather impressive Spider-Man PS4 suit listSpider-Man is a celebration of everything that makes the character great, which certainly includes his ever-expanding wall-crawler wardrobe.

First Appearance: The Amazing Spiderman Vol. 1 #258 (1984)

Context: After Reed Richards separates Peter Parker from the Symbiote, Parker does not have his original Spidey outfit to continue fighting crime. The Human Torch lends him an old Fantastic Four costume and gives him a bag to put over his head. Always the comedian, Johnny also places a "Kick Me" sign on Parker's back.

  • Future Foundation

First Appearance: Future Foundation Issue One (March 2011)

Context: After the Human Torch perishes, Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Thing, and Spider-Man join forces to create Future Foundation.

  • The Classic Suit

First Appearance: Amazing Fantasy #15 (1962)

Context: Unlike that of most newly created superheroes, Spider-Man's original costume was an instant hit - and his default threads have barely changed since their 1962 debut. Steve Ditko designed the Classic Suit and - no matter how many other costumes Spidey wears - the hero always ends up coming back to the original. Ditko may have created this costume in the real world, but in continuity, Peter Parker sewed it himself!

  • The Spider-Man Noir Suit

    First Appearance: Spider-Man Noir #1 (2009)

Context: Spider-Man was one of the first Marvel characters to receive the "Noir" treatment - where artists reimagined classic origin stories taking place during the Great Depression. This version of Peter Parker comes with a unique backstory and costume designed to blend in with the dark, gritty aesthetics of 1930s New York. It's also suitable for the more grounded and realistic nature of Spidey's foes in the alternate continuity.
