Vote up the Keanu Reeves stories that had you saying, "Whoa!"
We are often warned about meeting our heroes, as they tend to disappoint...Ā unless your hero happens to be āThe Oneā destined to save us from cyborg enslavement. KeanuĀ Reeves is really cool - folks in Hollywood claim he is one of the kindest people they have ever met, and fan encounters with the actor show he is down-to-earth, charismatic, and generous to boot.Ā Ā
Here is what it's like to meet Keanu Reeves, according to these internet tales. Reeves, by many accounts, appears to be a normal, average dude who likes to go camping by himself and drive strangers home who live 50 miles out of his way. He will not only pose for pictures with fans, but the Point Break star will also engage them in actual conversation. Play in a pickup hockey league? Reeves may even ask to be the goalie. He enjoys a sandwich every now and then, and doesn't mind the silly memes made with his likeness. Is KeanuĀ Reeves one of the greatest people on Earth? According to these fan stories, absolutely.

Reeves Drove A Stranger Home Who Lived 50 Miles Out Of His Way
Photo: Point Break / 20th Century Fox
Redditor/u/rockon4life45 shared about how Reeves not only helped a friend in need but also went way above and beyond what most people would ever do:
A friend of mine told me that she was once stranded on the side of a highway outside LA when her jalopy broke down. She had no cellphone (that was before most people had cellphones) and no way to call for help. Then a nice black Porsche pulls over and as you can guess, it was Keanu. He tried to help her jump-start the car, and when it didn't work, he called AAA for her. When they towed her car, he offered her to drive her home, which she accepted. He drove about 50 miles out of his destination just to drive her home. She told me she hoped he would hit on her, but he didn't. He was just a gentleman, dropped her at her house, gave her his phone number, and told her to call him if she needed further help.

He Slouched In His Theater Chair To Make Sure People Behind Him Could See
In February 2012, Keldroc posted a sweet story on Mean Stars about her experience watching Reeves interact with other people. This tale just proves that Reeves has a good heart and genuinely cares:
Some friends and I went to see Eddie Izzard do a one-night show in LA a couple years ago. We're standing in line outside the theater to be let in, and this guy walks past us and I think, "Wow, that looks like Keanu Reeves." He goes to the box office, gets his tickets, and walks back out past me again, and it's definitely Keanu Reeves. I was pretty stunned, because Keanu Reeves doesn't have to wait in line for anything in LA if he doesn't want to, but he stood out there with us for about half an hour. Inside, he sat near us on the very end on the aisle, accompanied by a woman who I suppose was his date. He's really quite tall, at least 6' 1", and the woman behind him was very short. He realized this and asked her if she could see around him. She couldn't, so he scrunched down and asked "How about now?" and continued to do so until he was almost out of the seat. He ended up switching places with his companion so the woman behind him had a clearer view. We all thought that was pretty f*cking cool.
Professional wrestler Kenny Omega had a chance encounter with the Point Breakactor at an airport lounge. In November 2016, Omega posted a video describing his conversation with Reeves. The wrestler admitted that even though he really liked Reeves's work, he didn't want to bother the star. However, Reeves could tell Omega was looking his way, and approached the wrestler for a conversation.
Not only did Omega get to tell the actor how much he enjoyed the underrated Reeves passion project Man of Tai Chi, but Reeves even asked the wrestler if he wanted to take a picture together. Of course Omega wanted a picture, but he probably would have been too shy to ask.
Of course, there is a price to pay for fame. One of those prices is losing your privacy. Most famous people will say "hi" or perhaps pose for a quick picture. Then there is Keanu Reeves, who engages in actual conversation with his fans. In September 2012, edenite posted about their super friendly Keanu Reeves encounter on Mean Stars:
I live in Sydney. I didn't recognize him, but I was having lunch with a friend who did and was a massive fan. She spotted him having lunch by himself but was too shy to say something/approach. So I did. He was very polite and charming, even to the point where he asked us what we did (students at the time), where and what we studied, etc. It was very nice of him to chat to us for a few minutes and sign an autograph. Turns out he was in Sydney filming The Matrix.

He Formed A Band With A Stranger Just As He Was Blowing Up In Hollywood
Rob Mailhouse met Reeves when the actor was just starting out in Hollywood. It was the 1990s and Reeves was in his Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure days. Mailhouse ran into Reeves at a local supermarket in Los Angeles. Mailhouse was wearing a Detroit Red Wings T-shirt at the time, and Reeves approached him and asked if he played hockey. He did.
Reeves asked if he could play goalie in their pick up hockey game. Soon, Mailhouse and Reeves got into playing music together and eventually formed the band Dogstar.
"So as we were starting out as a band, he was skyrocketing as an actor. It was kind of extraordinary to watch. But his goal all along was to do music parallel as well. Then, some really good things started to happen to us. Bon Jovi asked us to tour around with them, so we went to Australia and New Zealand," Mailhouse explained.
Dogstar opened for David Bowie, recorded a few albums, and made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The band would stay together for 12 years. Reeves never ditched Dogstar, even when he was at the height of his fame.

He Gave One Fan Suggestions For Their Keanu Reeves Movie Marathon
Blogger Jess Witkins and her husband are such huge fans of Reeves that they host a month-long Keanu Reeves-themed movie marathon called #Keanuthon. In September 2015, the couple went for a hike and wound up grabbing beers at a local bar. On a totally chance encounter, they spotted Reeves and followed him into a restaurant. Jess worked her way to a table next to TheMatrix star, who introduced himself to her, "Hi, I'm Keanu."
The star-struck fan and Reeves got to talking and she told him about #Keanuthon. The actor asked which films would be screened and even recommended A Scanner Darkly be added to the list. Jess eventually asked Reeves for a picture. Not only did he oblige, but he also wanted to check the photo and make sure it came out okay. The picture was hazy and the actor suggested they take another. In the end, Jess got her perfect picture.
