The Kids Back In Hawkins Fight Vecna
Ostensibly the one storyline the season could not do without. The big kids/little kids group truly feels like a Buffy/Scooby-style squad, and this is where all the thrills and chills of the season can be found.
PROS: The haunted house, the team work, the music!
CONS: It should be the only storyline.

Robin And Nancy Go Undercover To Interview Victor Creel
Robin and Nancy bury the hatchet and make a fun lil' detective squad when they go undercover to interview Victor Creel (played by the always amazing Robert Englund).
PROS: Robin and Nancy have a fun rapport, and it's nice seeing them work past their issues. But… Robert Englund!
CONS: Not enough Englund.

Eleven Goes Back To Dr. Brenner's Lab, Gets Tormented In Flashbacks
Eleven's out of the frying pan of a hostile high school and back into the lab where it all began. In an effort to get Eleven's powers back, Dr. Brenner subjects her (and the audience) to flashbacks of her early days in his laboratory.
PROS: We learn the origins of Vecna! Eleven's storyline fits into the main storyline!
CONS: MORE bullying? Plus, Eleven and Brenner's creepy “Papa” thing gets more unsettling the longer it goes on.

Hopper And Fellow Inmates Having To Fight A Demogorgon
Hey, something finally happens with Hopper's story! After four episodes of Hopper moping, his story finally becomes less Midnight Express and more Alien 3, and the show is all the better for it. Seriously, why didn't his story start here?
PRO: A very fun fight scene between the prisoners and a demogorgon, with an assist from Joyce and Murray.
CONS: Took so long to get here.

Joyce And Murray's Goofy Spy Adventure
And now some comic relief, whether you want it or not. Joyce ditches her whiny kids and heads to Alaska with Murray to rescue Hopper from a Russian prison.
PROS: Not even trying to be serious in this one. Murray gets to show off his blackbelt skills, and there's an impressive-looking plane crash.
CONS: Cutting from this to literally any other storyline can give you serious tonal whiplash.

SoCal Kids Are Pursued By A Nefarious Government Agency
If you like your violence a little quirkier, more like Burn After Reading, this storyline may be your cup of tea. With Eleven off in a lab, the boys have to find a way to her while avoiding some other random government agency that has designs on her.
PROS: This has Argyle, surely one of this season's breakout characters. He has what Eddie wants.
CONS: How does this tie into anything? No idea. Perhaps Vol. 2 will reveal more, but until then, this is kinda skippable.
