The Most Powerful Robots In Movie History

List RulesVote up the most powerful robots in movie history.

Robots, cyborgs, and androids, oh no! For years, mechanical automata have captured the imaginations of moviegoers, and they have stunned and amazed with their formidable strength and stoic allure. Whether they're working on behalf of humanity or working diligently to enslave and subjugate us all, robots have been the go-to titans of sci-fi and sci-fi/horror since the dawn of film.

But which of Hollywood's iconic mechanized monstrosities wields the most power? Is it the unstoppable murder-bots, unfazed by machine gun blasts and fire? Or the humanoid guardians of goodness protecting mankind from other robotic threats? Or perhaps it's the extraterrestrial creations who come to Earth with towering proportions and unknowable motivations? There's certainly no shortage of contenders for the title of most powerful movie robot of all time.

The Character: Known as a synthezoid, Vision made his cinematic debut in Avengers: Age of Ultron. His body is made entirely of vibranium and his incredible abilities come from advanced artificial intelligence and the awesome powers of the Mind Stone - one of the legendary Infinity Gems - implanted in his forehead.

How He's So Powerful: Apart from superhuman strength, reflexes, intelligence, and durability, Vision can fly, fire energy blasts from his forehead, manipulate density to allow him to walk through objects, transmute material into other forms, and interact with computers and technology, given his robotic nature.

His Greatest Weakness: His love and dedication to the protection of humanity, as well as his true love for Wanda "Scarlet Witch" Maximoff. Also, Thanos's surprisingly powerful grabbing fingers.

The Character: Introduced in Avengers: Age of Ultron, the eponymous robot (voiced by James Spader) is conceived as an automatic defense system for Earth. However, sentience turns him against his creators and all of humankind.

How He's So Powerful: With a vibranium-infused body, he is incredibly durable. He's a brilliant tactician, maniacally motivated, and controls a massive army of drone bots all sharing a single hive-mind that can make his consciousness be everywhere at once.

His Greatest Weakness: The entire combined might of the Avengers, as well as direct blasts of energy from Vision. Also, hubris and daddy issues.

The Character: In Transformers, Optimus Prime is a Cybertronian - a race of sentient alien robots - who is among the most powerful of his species. He leads the Autobots, a group of altruistic scientists and heroes, against the villainous Decepticons.

How He's So Powerful: He is super strong, super fast, and super durable, even by Cybertronian standards, and his body is made of living "transformium" metal, which means he can rebuild and heal himself rapidly after sustaining all manner of injuries. He's capable of transforming into different kinds of trucks and is all but invincible to conventional weapons and maneuvers.

His Greatest Weakness: Damage to his "spark," or his life force that resides inside him, which comes from Primus, the creator-god of the Cybertronian race. (The Transformers franchise has a surprisingly dense mythology.)

The Character: In Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla - and later Terror of Mechagodzilla - the titular robo-kaiju was a creation of an alien race who wanted to conquer Earth after their own planet was doomed to be devoured by a black hole.

How It's So Powerful: Mechagodzilla looks just like the real Godzilla, only filled to the absolute brim with weapons and firepower. Finger missiles, energy blaster beams fired from the chest, laser eyes, and rockets that can shoot out of all different places on its giant robot body are only a few of the ways in which the metal monster ravages the planet. Combined with incredible strength and a body made of super-durable space titanium, Mechagodzilla isn't messing around when it comes to world domination.

Its Greatest Weakness: Electrocution, electromagnetic force fields, and decapitation. However, Mechagodzilla comes back multiple times throughout the impossibly long Godzilla film franchise, so as long as some shadowy group is willing and able to rebuild it, Mechagodzilla may always be a threat.
