The origin of surrealist films can be traced back to Paris in the 1920s and used absurd, shocking, and irrational imagery and symbolism to take a new approach on the traditional function of art to express reality. All of the movies on this list fit within the surrealist cinema genre and are voted on by people who really care about surreal movies.
