The movies and novels have a number of nods toward symbolic elements like foreshadowing and hidden character traits. The story has always been deeper than the magical premise; the Wizarding World has a lot of things that allude to poetic justice or set-ups that kick in later in the overarching plot. 

It's interesting to see just how many details fans have noticed where symbolism is concerned and all of them offer a fresh perspective to the Harry Potter franchise.
