Dirty Jokes The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Made You Totally Missed As A Kid

List RulesVote up the dirtiest jokes that definitely went over your head as a kid.

Adult jokes in cartoons is a tradition as old as time, or at least as old as cartoons themselves. Considering the Heroes in a Half-Shell have a long history, both animated and live-action (not to mention comics and even rip-offs), it should come as no surprise that there are a fair number of adult jokes in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles history.

It almost seems like a badge of honor for writers to sneak adult jokes into kids movies that will go over the target demographic's heads (like the gems hidden all over The Incredibles), and it sometimes works masterfully. Other times these jokes feel so forced and lame that they can only elicit groans. That's the case with most of the adult jokes in TMNT.

Here are a variety of inappropriate Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles jokes from across their long, multi-formatted history that might make you chuckle or gasp or both.

Bebop And Rocksteady Were Thrilled About Their Mutated Penises

Fans were thrilled when they found out Bebop and Rocksteady would be brought to the big screen in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, but they probably didn't see the genitals joke coming. Immediately, after becoming mutants, Bebop (Gary Anthony Williams) and Rocksteady (Stephen Farrelly) celebrate their newfound anatomies, including a quick anatomy check, as they each pull out their waistbands to inspect what's lurking in their pants. They're apparently pleased because they say in unison, "My man!" and fist bump. That felt... necessary.

Michelangelo Really Enjoys Being Under April

    Video: YouTube

There's an episode in the original animated series called "The Old Switcheroo" in which Mikey lets slip a telling comment. At one point in the episode, April is stuck on a catwalk; Mikey tells her to jump and he'll catch her. She does, but when he collapses under her and she falls atop him, his shell causing them to spin on the ground. Mikey then says, "I really dig going around with you." See the pun?

Donatello Made A Spank-The-Monkey Joke, Fortunately Not To April

    Photo: CBS

"Turtles of the Jungle" was an episode from Season 4 of the animated series about an old kooky professor creating an enlarging ray, which of course results in his lab monkey getting gigantized and going on a King Kong-esque rampage. At one point, the professor yells, "Bad, bad monkey!" to which Donatello responds, "You're not going to spank him, are you?" Most of the numerous meanings this could have are sexual.

That Time Splinter Came, On The Roof, To A Decision

    Video: YouTube

There's a scene in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze, that boasts one of the more oddly delivered lines in cinematic history. April returns to her apartment to find the Turtles cleaning, but there's no sign of Splinter. She asks where the patriarchal rodent is; the Turtles tell her on the roof, prompting the question "Doing what?" Splinter suddenly appears in the window to answer, "Coming... to a decision."

Obviously, the line itself is innocuous: it's the delivery of said line that is anything but. Splinter startles everyone when he appears and blurts, "Coming." They all jump in surprise, as they should, because it'd be quite startling indeed to learn your sensei is ejaculating on the rooftops. Then he completes his statement after a questionable and lengthy pause, adding, "To a decision." Good thing he finished... that sentence.
