A video taken in western Argentina during the winter rains of 2017 shows two teenagers bravely rescuing a couple of tourists who were trapped in their car as muddy water rises around them.
Juan Cruz Peralta was only 15 years old when he was palling around with his 16-year-old buddy, Martin Vergara and spotted the vehicle shooting into the Mendoza River.
Flooding had washed out the road and the vehicle didn't stand a chance. The two backpackers inside were trapped with the water roiling around their car until Peralta waded through the water and helped them escape.
The car, however, was destroyed, which only underscores the impact of Peralta's heroic rescue.
