Late night TV has always had a special place in American entertainment, but the recent onslaught of politically oriented and satirical approaches to the platform mean late night talk shows are often the catalysts for discussions about current events. From Stephen Colbert to Samantha Bee, some of the best new late night hosts don't just entertain. They also inform and inspire, challenging their audiences to really think.
What shows will you find on this list? In 2015, Late Night With Stephen Colbert began when CBS welcomed Stephen Colbert to the desk that was previously occupied by David Letterman. The Daily Show with Trevor Noah – which premiered in August of 2015 – replaced longstanding host Jon Stewart with a new host. Daily Show alumni Samantha, Bee broke out on her own to host Full Frontal in 2016. Other good new late night talk shows include The Late Late Show with James Corden, The Jim Jeffries Show, and Truth & Iliza.
Do you have a favorite late night show that has premiered since 2015? Give the best series a thumbs up.
