Once a large luxury, flying is now the best way to explore the globe, and the US airline industry initially led the charge globally. In recent years, however, US airlines have been criticized by heavy travellers as often being little more than sardine cans. That said, not all airlines are created equally. This is a list of the best U.S-based airlines out there. This list focuses on international, intercontinental, intra-continental, domestic, and regional services for passengers.

These best U.S. airlines are also the safest way to travel, as people are more likely to be in an accident in their car than in a commercial jet airliner. While commercial space flight is currently in the works, the airplane will continue to be the method-of-travel of choice for many decades to come.
