The Best Movies Based On Video Games
The best video games of all-time may not necessarily become great movies, but that hasn't stopped Hollywood from trying. This is a list of movies based on, or adapted from, video games. If there are any that have been missed, please feel free to add them. This will not include movies about video games, such as Wreck-It Ralph - there's a separate list of such films over here - but exclusively feature films based on existing video game properties.
Most of these video game movies are rooted in sci-fi, fantasy, action, and/or horror, but video game adaptations can come in all genre shapes and genre sizes.
Of course, video game adaptations have a not-so-great reputation, and there's no doubt there have been some bad movies over the years. But some have managed to defy the odds; some may be on Team Silent Hill, others are more Mortal Kombat people. Some think the Resident Evil movies are low-key horror classics, while others may prefer the comedic stylings of Detective Pikachu. Whether you're a serious gamer or a gaming novice, it'll be up to you to decide which of these movies is worth a watch. Remember to vote up your favorites.
